I watched some of the US-Slovakia game today. I saw one of the Slovaks taunting the American bench after a goal. The commentators said that has been going on all tournament. What the hell is happening to sportsmanship? If that was going on in the WHL, the player would get pounded.

I watched that game as well and I didn't see any taunting but I have to say that the Americans were the odds on favourites to win that game and they outplayed the Slovaks by a wide margin but they just couldn't put the puck in the net.

My daughter watched the game, said the american goalie didn't play well at all,
and the american team just couldn't score, even though they had many shots.

Your daughter is right there. The Americans missed many opportunities to bury the Slovaks by putting pucks into open nets but they always missed. They either rang the puck off the post or missed the net entirely. Give the Slovaks credit though, they never gave up though they were outplayed.

The swedes are in the final, slovakia gave them a good game, looked like
anyones game for a while, but then sweden put it away toward the end.

Now we'll have to see what canada can do against the russians later today.

Crazy game. The Russians looked like the better team, until 5 seconds left in regulation. The Canadians owned the OT and shootout.

I thought teams looked very even, although I think Canada tightened up a little
in the latter part of the game, maybe afraid of making a mistake.
Imagine 5 seconds to go.
And yes, the shoot out was no contest, but where was filitov, it's seems ridiculous
that he wasn't the first or second shooter, crazy.

In the first few minutes of the game the Swedes were trying to intimidate the Canadians. I thought then that it was over for the Swedes because that is just playing into Canada's hands. Heck, Canada have a defensive pair that are 6'7" and 6'5".

Then I was surprised to see the ridiculous diving by the Swedes. It's no wonder Canada won 5 -1 and are once again 5-peat champions!

The Swedes proved once again that they are chippy poor sports. Their goaltender took dives that might have won medals at the Olympics. Fortunately the referees had already seen his antics and were able to ignore most of it. The Canadians played a good, disciplined game and they deserved the gold medal.

With all that diving and flopping around, If I were a Swedish hockey fan I would be ashamed. It's no wonder these guys haven't won a gold medal in decades.

BTW - How do you put a guy in a head lock, punch him and not get a penalty. The only thing more embarrassing then the Swedish antics was the poor officiating. The IIHF should use NHL refs for their tournaments (at least one per game).

I heard from a couple of so-called experts that the swedes were the stronger team.
Never saw any sign of that at all.
And, yes, seems the swedes were trying to climb out of their usual nice guy
attitudes, and did a poor job of it.
I sure like Cody Hodgson, and even though tavares got the mvp, I think Hodgson
was canada's best player overall, not flashy, but thorough, smart, played a ton,
was the highest point getter and canucks should be very proud of him.

The game was never in doubt from the drop of the puck.

CONGRATULATIONS CANADA

On three or four occasions their goalie went down like he had been shot.

When Canada loses to European teams it's almost always a no hitter. The Swedes wanting to rough it up with Canada was silly.

Yeah, their strategy was to beat canada at their own game, well that definitely didn't
work, poor attempt, better think up something
new next time.

I'll bet there is lots of chirping in the dressing room of the canucks, five swedes
on the team now.
All in good spirit I'm sure.
