I shall try not to gloat at my right wing compadres here in the forum

Now I get to plan a wedding! Woohoo! And there's no argument about who gets to wear the best shoes. That would be me. My better half will look yummy in a tux! And I get to wear something sparkly. Does it get any better? I better get over to eBay and start shopping for rings ....

That would be great, getting married :) I would never get married, but hey, that's my perogative.

On that note: I think it's great they are finally bringing this upfront again and offering to put it into federal legislation. Some gays can now only get married, depending on the province. That's just stupid. I believe 80% of the population (correct me if I'm wrong) can now get married to a same-sex partner?

My point, and I do have one, is that I agree that a certain level of decorum is necessary, but I find expressions of simple affection by any gender pairing is sweet. Just reminds me that love is a good thing. It really isn't about parts, but about hearts. Gawd, I sound like a Hallmark card here.

As a society we are unaccustomed to seeing same sex couples express affection. I think it's just a matter of giving us all time to adjust. At this point the gays all cheer any broadcasted kissing and the straights mostly get edgy. Everybody needs to settle down if same sex marriage is ever going to be just another part of our society.

Yay!! I'm so glad to read that last paragraph! ^^ you're so understanding. You're right. Although i don't have anything against gay marriages, seeing two guys kissing make me feel uncomfortable. But I think it's cute because they (guy/guy or girl/girl) fall in love with each other base on personality, not gender or whatever else. So I'm trying my best to be really openminded about it.
And congratualtion :D
P.S - I'm starting by reading shounen-ai

i donno about 80%

Well let's see: Ontario, BC, Quebec, Yukon, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan.. I would call that 80% of the country's population. Ontario, Quebec and BC account for the country's highest concentration of people.

Same-sex marriage is widely anticipated to be legalized across Canada by federal legislation in 2005. At present, six provinces (including the three most populous) and one territory issue marriage licences to same-sex couples; in total, about 85% of Canadians (roughly 27.4 million (http://www.statcan.ca/english/Pgdb/demo02c.htm)) live in provinces and territories where same-sex marriages are legal.

Sorry, 85%. If you don't believe me, look in the encyclopedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage_in_Canada

:D So 85% of the population can get married to a same-sex partner. Soon to be the entire country.

Thats why I dont understand the big stink now. If (big "IF")parliement does not pass(it will pass) it I guarantee it will be law within a year, as the Supreme court of Canada will see to it.

I guess the anti-equal-rights folks will keep on fighting to maintain obsolete values.
