OTTAWA — Several members of the Gatineau Olympiques hockey team are being investigated following an “indecent act” complaint at a Boston Pizza Friday night.
Sgt. Jean-Paul Lemay wouldn’t comment further on the complainant or the suspects. Lemay did say the next phase of the investigation is to track down and interview witnesses who were in the restaurant around 11 p.m.
The major-junior Gatineau Olympiques hosted the Chicoutimi Sagueneens that night, with the game finishing at 10 p.m. The restaurant is about 5 minutes from the Robert Guertin Arena, which is across the river from Ottawa.
A woman who answered the phone at the restaurant said management "has no comment about what happened.”
Lemay said no charges have been laid and police haven’t received any complaints of sexual assault.
According to witnesses who spoke with Gatineau newspaper Le Droit, an intoxicated woman started acting suggestively with several customers in the restaurant. Witnesses told the paper the woman rubbed against patrons, exchanged kisses and exposed parts of her body.
She became involved with one of the players, and they went into a bathroom, witnesses told the paper. As many as five teammates followed, and they were engaged in an indecent act, according to the report.
An employee who became aware of the situation was able to force the door open, putting an end to what was happening.
The woman reportedly didn’t want to co-operate with restaurant employees or complain to the police.
A third party informed police.
The QMJHL said an internal investigation is being conducted.
“The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Gatineau Olympiques organization take the situation reported in the media very seriously. There will be an internal investigation and a process will be established for next steps. There will be no further comment on this situation until further notice,” the league said in a statement.

OTTAWA -- The Gatineau Olympiques hockey team is staying silent about a police investigation into an "indecent act" complaint tied to some of the players.
"Talk to me about the practice or the (upcoming) road trip and I'm willing to answer that," head coach Benoit Groulx said after the team's skate Tuesday. "We sent a press release and have been asked by the league to not comment."
Police in Gatineau, across the river from Ottawa, said they received a complaint about an "incident act" at a Boston Pizza restaurant Friday night.
Published reports say an intoxicated woman started acting suggestively with several customers in the restaurant, rubbing up against patrons and exposing parts of her body.
According to the reports, she started a conversation with one of the Olympiques players, then the pair went into an upstairs bathroom.
Several teammates followed and engaged in an indecent act until an employee became aware of the situation and forced the door open, according to reports.
The club's front office also wouldn't comment on the allegations.
Police have not laid any charges, and they haven't received any complaints of sexual assault from the woman involved.
