I'm told that a collective agreement can supersede labour law. In fact it's not uncommon to see 7 10's or 7 12's at straight time in the oilsands these days, a common cost-cutting measure. The rallying cry of big oil, work for less or don't work at all.

There are provisions for collective agreements in Employment Law Statutes. That's not the same thing as a contract or clause in a contract contravening existing law.
