You should really give these experiments a try, particularly the bubbles one. i did this myself once a few years ago when my oldest girl was only two and insisted we had to blow bubbles despite the temperature being so low we couldn't possibly bring her outside. so i opened the window. the bubbles froze mostly in midair, with wonderful hexagonal and fern-shaped crystals growing quickly over the bubbles. incredible to see.
