eMule doesn't contain spyware or anything intrusive. The original eDonkey2000 actually did contain advertising, though.

Kazaa Lite K++, although technically unavailable, does still exist and it widely available. Also, no spyware.

Why do people use applications they know contain ads, spyware, fake files, corrupted files, potential viruses, and programs that harm your computer?

None. All contain parasites. There are special ftp sites that i download from with my cuteftp program. You just have to make connections on the internet which is not very hard (if you are nice to me) and you can download anything you wish).

That's a load of BS, when you talk about eMule.

If you can point out the code to me (it's open source, I've already looked at the code), then that's when you can prove it.

I'll put money down that a) you won't be able to find the code or b) you can't code, and therefore can't read code.

This program does come with some adware. EDeals, Four Bearshare and one ISTBar. Run Ad-aware pro or Pestpatrol Corp edition and you'll find them. But you can remove them all and still have this p2p program work without any limitations. But it does have a very low doenload speed.

Now you might be more experienced with the program but I tried it here and it does have adaware and spyware.

As for coding, I quit that long time ago. My Job is the security aspect of networks, so i deal mostly with these problems.

Re: Your fav file-sharing app

Hi Andem,

I decided to install eMule on a system that never had the program on it before and I ran Pest Patrol on it. You can see that it found 4 occurances of BearShare Adware/SpyWare as I stated above. All of them have the ed2k service on them. You can see at the bottom that I was running both Ad-aware and Pest patrol with eMule running.

I hope this clarifies things. You can go to http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/b/bearshare.asp for more info. The other type of parasites are the same. They collect your websurfing habits and share it with advrtisers.

You are installing BearShare. You are not installing eMule. The ed2k network is accessable by different programs. The original developer of ed2k was eDonkey2000, hense it's name.

eMule is a client. It does not contain any adware whatsoever.

Bearshare is NOT eMule. They are two totally different clients and applications.

Look at emule running in the taskbar. I just downloded the program and these things showed up. There are a lot of places to find what I said to be true. I do not want to argue the issue. But let me explain.

I downloaded emule and it is running as you can see on the task bar. Prior to that I had no adware in the system. After installation, I did a scan and i got the screen shown. ed2k is still part of eMule. check their website. They say "What is eMule?

At dawn of May 13th 2002 a guy called Merkur was dissatisfied with the original eDonkey2000 client and was convinced he could do better. So he did. He gathered other developers around him, and eMule Project was born. Their aim was to put the client back on track where eDonkey had been famous before, adding tons of new features and a nice GUI. They couldn't imagine what impact this decision would have...

As of today, eMule is one of the biggest and most reliable peer-to-peer file sharing clients around the world. Thanks to it's open source policy many developers are able to contribute to the project, making the network more efficient with each release."

This is all I've done. Please forgive me if I am being hard headed but I am trying to help.

PS: I do not have Bearshare installed on the system at all and never had. This just happened after installing eMule.

The information you are posting is completely irrelevant to eMule. You are posting information about other ed2k clients. You have not posted any proof whatsoever that eMule contains spyware. You have posted proof that BearShare contains spyware which I am quite aware of.

The second link talks only about propagation. This means you can get that specified virus/spyware with anything that you can download with

EMULE DOES NOT CONTAIN SPYWARE OR VIRUSES.
