The rate at which my teams keep getting knocked out suggests that maybe I'm bad luck to the teams I cheer for.

I initially cheered for Australia because Canada's team left fairly early. After Australia I cheered for England. We all know what happened there. Next, I picked Germany and they are gone. Now, in the final, I will cheer for France. I hope it's not the kiss of death...

The Italians look like they get shot, once a minute or so. I find it hard to vote for a bunch that should be using the 3-meter board.

Did you see that Portuguese player who was carried off the field on a stretcher and he hopped off the stretcher and ran back on the field. I couldn't believe it....but it happened.. :p

They need to find a way to deter that stuff. It's a joke.

I hope for France. I'm not a big fan of France, period. Although I'd really like to see the sneaky tactics of the Italian team put down and lose the world cup for it. Like come on! Spain+Italy+Portugal do NOT play real football -- fair and square. They're nudged by an opposition team player and next thing you know they've rolled over 6 times on the ground yelping in pain.. 2 minutes later (after a penalty has been called), they're up and at it again.

That's strange. The French and the Germans are usually butt buddies.

Funny you should make such a comment, Blackleaf, because I'm just as English as you.

Hehe, thanks Juan for giving Australia your support earlier!

I'm going for France!!! I lived there when I was 16 so I have some pride for the country and I'd love to see them win. Plus.... I'd HATE to see the Italians win! Love your comment Kreskin!!

I sure hope not, I'm cheering for France as well. At least my track record has been a bit better...I cheered for England, and once they lost I switched to France.

Just a funny anecdote:

My Commanding Officers secretary is Portuguese, and when they lost she flipped out then made an announcemt over the unit intercom about what she thought of France. Quite funny really....*sigh* f.uck I hate soccer......

I think France will win.
But if Italy win, being Australian, i can at least have the satisfaction in saying that the Socceroos got beat by the 'World Champions'

If Italy wins the US can say it tied the world champions. They'll be co-winners.

I quite agree. The World Cup is a stage for football, not drama - and the Italians are only outdone by the Portuguese when it comes to acting.

I was studying Spanish in Guatemala in 1982 when the World Cup was on. I lived with a family of Italian descent, who were ecstaic over Italys win then. I knew nothing about football, but the ancestors on my mothers side came from Germany, so I rooted for the fatherland.

I still know very little about football, but have watched several matches this year. I need some lessons about the game.:?

Once again, Italy beat Germany - naturally I have to pull for France. But I think Italy has a better chance of winning. :(

Oh well, I bought some German beer yesterday to celebrate that they won the final game they played. :eek:ccasion5:
