Elected in the Alberta riding of Edmonton-Strathcona in 1997 as a member of the Reform party, Jaffer held the riding until his surprising defeat by an NDP candidate in the 2008 election.

Former MP Jaffer faces impaired driving, drug charges

Good thing it wasn't a former Liberal or NDP Member of Parliament. Were it a Grit or a New Democrat, you can just imagine the hard liners braying for blood?!
Key word being "Former". Just look at BC's Prov. Gov't. Our Premier can go to Hawaii, get blasted, get caught and even now, several years later he is still our lousy premier. I don't understand why the Premier of Ont. needs approval from Ignatieff to bring in the HST. Our Premier simply announced he's doing it. Maybe you have to get caught for DUI and then you no longer need permission.8O

I commend this guy, snorting coke to counter the drowsiness brought on by the booze. Best of luck next time.

Drinking and driving isn't a crime, it's a sport.
