Former Tory MP Anne Widdecombe has been found murdered at her home.
The body of the 78-year-old former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokeswoman was found by police with serious injuries at her home in Haytor, a rural village on Dartmoor in Devon, at about 11:40 BST on Thursday.
The incident is not being treated as terrorism, after counter-terror policing was involved as part of "initial enquiries".
A 26 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Widdecombe was a former Tory MP who defected to Nigel Farage's Brexit Party in the European Parliament and became a Brexit Party MEP just after Britain voted to leave the EU. She made a famous speech in the European Parliament in which she told the assembled MEPs "We're off!". More recently she was a spokeswoman for Farage's Reform UK.
She also starred in a series of the BBC Saturday night hit show "Strictly Come Dancing."
