Not a very good move by mr Harper, I am strongly against the crossing of the floor to any party. I know a lot of his base in Calgary was not to happy about it, although he is still strongly supported. I believe Harper has decided that it is a risk he is willing to take to reach out to Vancouver and Montreal. I know in the french media they were talking about Harpers flexibility, so maybe this will help the Conservatives......I don't know for sure, its still to early to tell.

I didn't say he lied; he made a big freaking deal out of how wrong it was, then HE recruited Emerson.

Harper makes a big deal out of "reform" and "accountability", and then does the EXACT thing he criticized the Liberals for.

Harper has no ethics at all. He is already a disappointment, and an insult to the party.

You have no right to say Harper has no ethics. If you don't like the way our political system works, in which this type of stuff is allowed, then critisize that, not Harper.

I don't agree with Emerson's move, just like I didn't agree with Belinda's move. But that is a fault in our system of representative government, not a fault of Harpers.

HARPER DID NOT LIE!!!! Geez people, get your facts straight!!!

Not once did he say he would hold a bi-election in a situation like this. He made it very clear that he would not restrict the rights of members in this manner, even though he was affected by it at one of the worst possible times.

So PLEASE PEOPLE, don't post these unsubstantiated claims.

Yes you are right, but as a conservative supporter I believe this was not a good move as he spoke out against these floor crossings! I sure hope he knows what he is doing and that it was worth it...... but I still believe mr Harper is shrewd, much more than we give him credit for.

Harper selected a good cabinet. 12 less posts than Paulie's ad hoc collection of porkers. That will save the country $20 million a year.

Just one lawyer I think, the rest regular folk long on political experience and of high intellectual calibre as Father De Souza would say. Fortier was appointed to the Senate to represent Montreal. He will resign from the Senate to run in the next general election.

Yep, I like the new Cabinet as well. I am not opposed to the Senate appointment although I do prefer elected ones, but I do understand the reasoning behind it. I heard there was positive reaction to this appointment in Montreal?

What I do not support is the welcoming of a Fiberal into the Conservative cabinet.....this has no positive effect at all in terms of his popularity in Vancouver, as this is a city more concerned with homosexual marriage than anything else.
