Final Salute.

Sad.

Too bad dead soldiers doesnt get the same threatments as officers.

Hi, I'm new here but I had to address this comment. My name is Kevin, if you look through the story Final Salute, you'll find my quotes in it. I say that only to validate who I am, so any doubters will be convinced I know what I'm talking about. I was at nearly everyone of the funerals. We have done one..count em...one officer funeral, and at least ten for enlisted(non-officer) funerals. Repsect is not based on rank when it comes to this. All of the decased Marines and their families that are left behind recieve the exact same honors and respect...doesnt matter if they were a private or a 4 star general. Loss is loss, and you cannot possibly even consider taking rank into consideration when trying to deal with it. To suggest otherwise means the person im replying to served in the military with totally unsatisfactory officers, or hasnt served at all. Not trying to troll, and ill throw in this caveat too...I have only done Marine Corps funerals, if the other services or other countries militaries dont do it the way we do(at the least) then shame on them.

Surely the Americans can mourn their own soldiers.

Do we really need this on a Canadian forum? Nobody here knew that soldier and to imply that we did is phoney. I can't see any need for this kind of cyber monument .

Why shouldn't it be posted here? It's not like this forum is strictly devoted to Canadian issues.

It is a sad story, I really see no need to bring up the usual anti US rhetoric.

Tell me Durka

Did you know that soldier? Did you know the family? If you didn't, why do you want a Mausoleum here? Do you know how many people die every day in American oil wars?

Could the reason you have an issue with it is because the Wife in the Story isn't on the Anti-War Bandwagon like Cindy Sheehan?

Did you even bother to take the time to read the full 12 pages of the story? It's about the love the wife has for her husband and how the Marines take care of their own even after death..

If the story supported you're "American Oil Wars" views you wouldn't have a problem with it being posted would you? Since it The doesn't support you're views you're saying it's not relevant enough to post while you have no problem posting stories of supposive War Crimes committed by Marines in Iraq because it supports you're views..

My goodness!

I don't know this woman or her husband. Aside from the fact that there are thousands of other Americans who've been killed, and tens of thousands of other Americans who've been horribly injured, why should I lose sleep over this one? Why do I think this whole photo op with the casket was a complete set up by the pentagon? They've been keeping cameras away from other soldiers coming home to be laid to rest.

To some of your other comments; Of course I support the things I believe in. Don't you? Doesn't everyone?

Cindy Sheehan's fight is just as heroic as anyone's but you are entitled to your opinion.

Yep this is the same studio we used to make the photos of the japanese representatives signing the treaty to end WWII on the USS Missouri, and the same studio we used to make the pfotos of Neil Armstrong skipping across the lunar surface...
/sarcasm off

Seriously though, there were no Pentagon reps anywhere near here..just like there weren't any Pentagon reps at the Pulitzer award ceremony two days ago when the photographer Todd Heisler received his award. I know I was there and can attach the pics to prove it. No one expects you to lose sleep, you dont like the story, so be it. But the conspiracy theory stuff is really silly...
