I believe it has to do more with those local residents risking life and limb for whats considered top dollar (US no doubt).


In this case it is probably food for his family rather than the glory of the open (and sometimes not) road.


Who do you think the UN hired to bring supplies into Haiti for the relief effort that they did? Gun-runners, remember they will haul anything anywhere. All they needed was the radios in the planes to get it done.
