Pit crews don't make the mega dollars that driver's make. A real pit crew superstar might make up to $200,000 a year but the average ranges from $80,000- $120,000 a year. Not exactly "mega dollars". It could have even been one of track's security personnel, they were in Alabama after all.

Hmmmm. I find it hard to believe. Teams are highly secretive and protective of their car's tech and spec. Those garages are heavily guarded and have cameras galore.
