Half of Americans call Facebook a fad | Fox News

Will you become a Facebook owner?

This claims to identify the ownership structure, pre-IPO.

Lots of millionaires made today but not those who bought the stock. Apparently shenanigans at investment houses kept the stock around the original ask price but all the hype didn't translate into investor interest.

Wow Kreskin, you bumped your own news article twice after no replies... so let me be your first ;)

Facebook is going the way of MySpace, since they "pushed" timeline and have more ads and apps than your own personal info... I would hsve to say within 5 years Facebook will be called Face Palm...

Just how much information online is too much information.. when identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the world, yet Facebook keeps taking away your privacy... or the ability to not let 3tdme parties get your info and who has scess to that???

Thanks Boom. I wonder how much identity crime starts with Facebook. It seems fairly easy to dig up a lot of basic information, and as you said Facebook keeps changing everyone's privacy options.

I don't believe Facebook has as many real members as they keep professing to have. Duplications and fake accounts (and dead accounts) are probably more than half of their member's list. And the timeline thing is a dud.

I'm not sure about identity theft but home robberies have gone up. Theives can pull and address and know when the person is on vacation or away from home thanx to constant status updates.

Of course, privacy concerns are only relevant if you put your birth date and personal info on FaceBook to start with.

Most people have family, work, education, photos etc. Meanwhile Facebook keeps slipping in changes that makes public what was private, or they make it confusing enough that members won't notice they are public and haven't correctly completed privacy settings. Over the last 5 years or so I've completed made everything private (friends only) and a few times have discovered areas that were no longer private.

All this is a good foundation for identify thieves. There are many ways to translate that info into a gold mine.

IMO Facebook is used far too often by children and attention wh*res as a means to force adults to interact with them on THEIR TERMS ONLY.
Never have never will.
