Daily Telegraph is an extreme right wing newspaper; it represents Britain’s Rush Limbaugh or FOX news.
When the Falklands war took place in the 80s, I was living in UK. I distinctly remember at that time USA had a neutral position in the war, they did not support Britain.
But there was not a pip out of Telegraph. The reason? At that time, the Republican idol, Reagan was in office. Of course Reagan could do no wrong. But when Obama follows exactly the same policy, Obama is wrong. But then Telegraph would have condemned Obama soundly even if he had thrown full support behind Britain. What Telegraph says has about as much value as what Rush Limbaugh says.
USA has had a policy of neutrality towards the Falkland issue for years (indeed, for decades) now. Thus it is just Telegraph displaying its extreme right wing character.
I remember when I lived in Britain, Telegraph used to advocate abolition of railway. Their point was that if we pour concrete on the rail tracks, that will give us a ready made road system, which could be used for driving, rather than for railways.
It also used to advocate abolishing the tax deduction at the source. It wanted a system whereby all the citizens will file tax return at the end of the year and at that time pay any due taxes.
Telegraph is a nutty, extremist newspaper.
