Hello everyone, I was just doing a Google search for job opportunities in Fort McMurray and I ended up visiting this website. So far I like the simple design and the friendly members.

I am a university student that has decided to take a few years off before pursuing my education again due to financial reasons (Credit card debts, student loans). I have heard that Alberta (Especially Northern Alberta) is a good place to go as far as employment is concerned.

I have no skills except for a few months of working in the painting industry and a few years of service attendant at a gas station.

While doing a research on Fort McMurray's employment industry, I have read that some employees employed under a contract are eligible for LOA's (Living Out Allowance), which are at a rate of $130 / day (Or $4000 / month).

I am looking for an entry-level employment opportunity that provides LOA on top of hourly wage. I have heard that Fort McMurray is a good place for LOA's. However, I have no friends or any colleagues that liv in Fort McMurray so I have no idea where all the jobs are at. In addition, I do not want to move to Fort McMurray right away because I will not be able to find a place to live.

Also, I don't have a preference of location as long as the pay is good.

I would appreciate it if anyone here is able to recommend me a good-paying job. Something entry-level that I am able to make around $5000 / month. The more the better, but I don't think it will get any higher than $5000.

You can post a reply here or e-mail me at jameshan1985 at hotmail dot com.

Thanks very much for taking your time to read my post and have a nice day!!!

You might want to try PTI group out of Edmonton. It is huge business coming from the US to Canada and has many branches. They are always looking for people to work in Camps in Western Canada and in the NWT. They initially don't pay a lot but there is room for advancement depending on your work ethic and your motivation to succeed. I am told (a friend works for them) they will also pay (once you pass the probation) for courses to upgrade yourself. You would usually work 3 weeks in and 1 out.
