Well, I may be an "ecotard" so please tell me more about this magical material the tanks are made out of that never corrodes.

The material doesn't exist... To be honest, I didn't think that I really needed to write the comment in purple

Nonsense. Kitimat is aproblem. Or, more specifically the Hecate Strait, Douglas Channel adn Kitimat Arm are the problem. Ultimately it's a risk/reward equation that British Columbians have to solve. To date, the reward isn't worth the risk, according to polls in BC. That might change if times get tough. But not today.

Makes so much sense... Construct a new p/l to a possible port that has nothing but downside for the tankers that will enter... So, that being the case, why not twin the existing line to Burnaby seeing how it's only a problem with the waters off of Kitimat?

Truth be told, BC has a rich tradition in cutting off their collective noses to spite their face

Yes, twinning lines makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure what the downside is for the tankers coming into Rupert or Vancouver over Kitimat. Kitimat would seem the more difficult route to me.

As for BC, we're a bit different out here, to be sure. But I think the Conservatives and Enbridge smiling and telling us how much they care about our environment was a bit much for a lot of people, given their respective records. They would get further if their past actions were more aligned with their promises.
