Yeah, so I've heard ... you know, I once laughed my ass off when I saw a Dutch TV-report ... it was broadcasted some months ago ... a Dutch reporter went to the countryside of Kentucky, to interview so fundamental Christians, to talk with them about Bush ("our Savior"), Kerry ("gay babykiller") and all sorts of stuff ... than, suddenly, the man who was interviewed - I thought he was a minister - noticed the reporter was Dutch, and actually tried to convince him it was better not to turn back to that "modern Sodom and Gomorra". "It's much better here in Kentucky!" The reporter was not in the mood to start a discussion about it, so just ignored it ... Thinking about it, it made me very pissed off... My dad was pissed off too I recall. He's not that positive about Americans, always bitching about them (while he's working for an American company) ...

Heh. I think about the two things people think they grow there, Tulips and Pot . Yea, it's so much more 'holy' in Kentucky. I don't want anything to do with 'holy' since the 'Holy land' has more blood spilt over it than any other place on earth. See the Xenophobia I'm talking about? The absolute contempt for a world that keeps getting smaller. They can't handle the change. Anyway, it'd be easier to learn the language too; easier than learning french to go to Canada . Not to mention the drugs and the partying ;) make it a hell of a lot funner than Canada.

The grass is always greener, Rick. I'd suggest that before anybody moves anywhere permanently they should spend a year or two visiting and comparing.

I know I wouldn't be happy in Europe for the same reason I'm not happy in Toronto or Vancouver...too many people too close together. People from places like that tend to be a little uneasy when they get to a place where there are too few people too far apart though.

I'm waiting for the grass here to turn to crap, then I'll just go where there's grass ;). The Netherlands for example, is famous for its 'Grass'

 ... you know, some fifty years ago the Netherlands was considered one of the most traditional societies in Europe ... look where we are now ... there's still hope for the US

Actually, that is an encouraging thought, Rick. We can always hope.

Holland has always been a little more liberal than the rest of Europe though, hasn't it? I'm trying to remember some long-forgotten history about the Reformation. For some reason I seem to remember people investing in tulips like they were stocks or something though.

Ah, hell, I'm all confused. I know I used to know this stuff because I passed the test, but now it's all gone.

Hmmm...when I passed that test I was smoking dope though. Maybe I need to take a holiday and visit Rick so I can remember. ;-)
