That's the reason that Canadian MPs voted to abolish the death penalty.
As told to me by an MP who voted against it at the time, despite the fact that he personally thought there were times when it was appropriate.
If in doubt, you HAVE to go with the more careful option. God forbid you execute an innocent man.
And I have to agree with his thinking.
