A solution to one of the stupidest bits of big-brother interference by this shadowy body, the CBSC. They obviously felt the heat. I'll be glad when they are dismantled.

Remember the outrage Dire Straits fans felt when the English band's smash hit 'Money for Nothing' was banned on Canadian radio after complaints over the use of the word "faggot" in the 1985 track? Well, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council seems to think that outrage was warranted, as they've put an end to the 'Money for Nothing' boycott.

I've heard it many times since it was banned. Even just last week on 95.5. The complete version.

The video linked into the article does not have the word 'faggot' in it. A live censored version.

A lot of radio stations did a big **** you to the CSBC. When the ban happened, at least 1 radio station played it non stop for 1 hour.

Yeah, I think anyone could have played the proper version. They just risked being ratted-out and fined.

Remember the good old days when they played the Rodeo Song uncensored for a few days when it first came out? At least I recall hearing it when I lived in Whitehorse but I might have been drunk that year too.

But then folks got all 'sensitive' and stuff. LMAO

I only heard it (The Rodeo Song) uncensored on cassette. It was funny hearing it played on the radio. It was all beeps.

Sort of like what would happen on this board if you typed the lyrics out without altering the spellings. :)

About time. It shouldn't have been banned in the first place.

A song that I was surprised that wasn't censored was a song by Tool that played on the local radio station a couple of weeks back. There were plenty of sh*t and f-bombs in it! True, it was after 10pm that it played, but usually they play the censored versions of songs even at late hours.

Seeing as the government is looking to save some money I suggest just totally cutting off this group.
