Virginia -and damn proud
Well, we could find a method of turning Hamaas against Hesbollah and let them "go at it." Then, with what remains, we go in and mop up.

On a serious note: So the world hates us, big deal. We never entered a popularity contest. Every country does what it believes is in its best interest. If we ruffled some feathers, tough!

The radical Islamists hate damn near everyone and the US and Israel are on the top of the list...ever stop to think why? Both countries are very similar in government (a democratic form) and are allies (with the occasional spying on each other - never said we were perfect). Of course, the Muslims think the lands inhabited by the Jews really belong to Islam (promised by Muhammed) as do the Jews (promised to them by God).

How do we settle all this? Well, as I write this, Israel may be making the beginning steps - Beruit is becoming a pile of rubble and the ground offensive is beginning. Iran will channel more weapons to Hesbollah thru Syria, and the USA will covertly ship BIGGER weapons to Israel.

Has anyone noticed how Leabanon has become the battleground for all these folks? When in doubt, bomb/occupy Lebanon (pick one, or both).

The USA will not apologize for past mistakes, nor will it ever pay reparations - we will continue to TRY to be the policemen of the world. You better hope we do a good job, 'cause if we don't, Canada will be in the crosshairs of the next terrorist threat.

So quit yer bitchin' and cut us some slack - give some constructive help, and quit whining about all the ways we have screwed up. We are doing the best we can down here. Just be glad that Canada and the USA are sharing a border, and not Canada and Pakistan, Afghanistan, or some other "...stan."

Well said VirginiaGentleman. But...
You have to understand how much we canucks love to bitch. It's what we do. I would like Canada to do what is in it's best interest, all countries should. Helping friends is not altruism, it's good policy.
As far as being the policemen of the world, I don't think that is a very good idea. Unless you are specifically invited by a nation to help, you should let countries make and enforce their own laws. Rather than be the worlds policemen the US should just do what is good for it. Sometimes that may be to go to war, lend assistance to other nations, or enter negotiations, whatever you do someone will be mad. Terrorism didn't start on 911 the world has been dealing with it for a long time. Terrorism is a tactic, not a nation. You might as well start a war against guerilla warfare, it doesn't make sense. Your extremist enemies use the tools they have. People that are disgusted by the actions of terrorists or more importantly nations afraid that terrorism will happen on them will be you allies. They should be cultivated, as intelligence, more than anything, will stop horrible acts before they happen.
Canada is such a friend and will help when it counts regardless of the clamour from the north.
