Here is a URL to a picture of one of my smoke detectors. I have two hard-wired with silence buttons and three battery operated with silence buttons. The alarm returns to normal after a pause of about 10 minutes. I purchased these at Home Depot, but have seen them in other stores. The cost was under $10.00 if I remember correctly. I annotated the picture for clarity.
