Eagle-eyed U.S. Transportation Security Administration officers at a Houston airport spotted something extra in a traveller’s breakfast burrito during a routine check of carry-on luggage.
Turns out the suspicious ingredient in the dish was a lump of crystal meth, TSA said in a press release.
The agency said an officer spotted “an unidentified lump” in a burrito on April 2 at Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport.
“Due to the unusual nature and size of the lump, the TSO (Transportation Security Officer) requested additional inspection of the food item,” TSA said.
When the hungry traveller was asked to unwrap the suspicious item, “the passenger insisted it was just a breakfast burrito.”
Officers noticed “something dark and unusual in the middle of the burrito” which didn’t match the traveller’s description of the breakfast item and decided to rescreen it with an X-ray.

A secondary screening showed what “appeared to be black tape and dark wrapping around a large organic mass,” TSA said.
Officers suspected it was an illegal substance and called the Houston Police, who determined that the lump was crystal meth.
The local police took possession of the drugs and the suspected drug mule was arrested.
