This guy is has gone completley fecking nuts   Where do I join up

TOM CRUISE reckons he has lived before and was even more talented and successful in his previous lives.
The eccentric War Of The Worlds star told a press conference that he is "old beyond reckoning".

And despite all his wealth and fame, he believes his current life is "probably one of the least satisfying" he has led.

Cruise, a devoted follower of the bizarre Church of Scientology, said: "I was much happier in previous existences when I wrote plays, composed music, conquered nations, discovered continents and developed cures for diseases"I only took my present form because Bingodulla, whom all Scientologists worship as the Supreme Thetan, selected me to spread the gospel of Scientology to the glib, uninformed masses.

"I really would have preferred being a brain surgeon or a research scientist in this life."

Cruise, 43, told how he has known and loved his latest fiancee, Dawson's Creek star Katie Holmes, "many times in many lives before".

He said: "When I was languishing in prison before being sent to exile, she used to send me notes hidden inthe collar of her pug dog. She's my eternal soulmate."

Cruise said the"sheer joy"of finding Katie again in his current life was something non-Scientologists could never understand.

He added: "I know the history of this woman.Other people don't.

"Until you've been with a partner in countless past lives, you'll never know the joy of rediscovering that partner in your present life. It's a joy I wish for all of you."

Cruise hit the headlines in June when he criticised Brooke Shields for seeing a psychiatrist and taking anti-depressants to get over post-natal depression.

And at his news conference, a Scientology-themed event with selected reporters from his fan club's newsletter, he claimed that Brooke was the lover of the founder of modern psychiatry, Sigmund Freud, in a previous life.

He said: "I could tell you stories about Brooke.

"She was the mistress of Sigmund Freud, you know. Is it any wonder she promotes his discredited theories? She's so confused.

All of Scientology is really like that. L. Ron Hubbard wrote an s/f story about a guy who started his own religion, then realised it was such a good idea that he should do it. The really incredible thing is that people keep on signing up for it.

It is amazing how many people keep signing up. Some people are so gulliable and are easily taken advantage of I guess. Look at how many people join "cults" then turn into kooks...well you all know the rest.

You don't have to convince me...I was raised Catholic. Talk about your kooky cults. Men in dresses waving incense around and chanting, an invisible man in the sky watching your every move, nuns who appeared to hover as they down the halls at school. It was kind of like Rosemary's Baby, but weirder.

I think I liked him better when he was making bad movies about NASCAR.

OMG, Rev - that was a complete TURD of a movie - within a week, word spread throughout NASCAR fans - and they stayed away in droves!
(I, on the other hand, made the mistake of wasting 4 bucks and 2 hours by renting it!)

Wasn't it awful? I waited for it to come out on TV. Still, would you rather see that or listen to Cruise ranting about his cult?

Ah, Rev, I share your opinion. I, too, was raised in the cloth. The part I always found most frightening as a kid was the dead guy nailed to the cross because I sassed my parents ... and then we'd eat his body and drink his blood. Pretty icky for a kid! And the give us our "first communion" at 6 years old, an impressionable age! I did like the frilly dress I got to wear, however.

I don't know much about Scientology, but I suspect that Cruise is a zealot, just like you get in any religion. I do believe in the premise of reincarnation, even believe we share multiple lives with people, but I'd be embarassed beyond breath to run around yapping about it to millions of people. Look at Travolta ... he quietly does his spiritual thing, is an actor of impressive calibre and seems like a genuine guy, but while he claims his religion he doesn't turn it into a three ring circus. Scientologists can have class. ;)

Zen ... loved your comment about "Cruise control"

"TOM CRUISE reckons he has lived before and was even more talented and successful in his previous lives."

I would hope so. God knows, he'd have a hard time being less talented.

That said, I'd be interested to know how anyone could take Scientology seriously. It was started by a scifi writer, as a way to make a fortune. By his own admission.

Why is whenever anyone comes out with this "my previous existence" claptrap, they were always someone famous or brilliant? If they came out and said "in my previous existence I was a janitor, and a very poor one at that. I was renowned locally for always leaving the bathroom a bit smelly after mopping", I'd be more inclined to believe them. Only slightly more inclined, mind.

Cruise is a prize idiot; I hope he doesn't have any more lives.

He'll probably see the light when he starts starring in children's movies - clear indications that your career is finished.

I dunno TenPenny ... a religion started by a sci-fi writer doesn't seem any sillier to me than one based on the bible. At least we know for sure Hubbard was real! ;)

Interesting point, Big H, about people claiming all kinds of lofty previous lives. I've noticed this often too, and find people who claim to have been grand poobahs of something leave me a bit skeptical. Not everyone could have been nobility!

I've studied this extensively and the majority of serious people I have known in that circle have been plain folk in previous lives. Personally, past lives have included being a peasant a couple of times and an Egyptian slave. The only life that held any position of esteem for me was the mother of a tribe leader in Africa way back. Of course it could all be bullshit ... who knows? The circumstances surrounding the study I've done have lead me to believe the veracity of reincarnation, but I respect peoples' right not to believe.

I've studied all kinds of esoteric belief systems, some very odd (like physical immortality), which make reincarnation a tame idea in comparison. :)

Either way, Cruise has lost his marbles. After seeing "Last Samarai" I was impressed with his acting, but it's hard to take him seriously now. Kinda sad.

It's been said here before ... religion is like underwear ... we should wear what fits best, but keep it private, IMHO

RE: CRUISE ''I HAVE LIVED

In my next life, I'm coming back as a house cat. I can hardly wait to piss my owner off by trouncing all over the keyboard when she's trying to type.
