If the user is not careful, a stalker or someone else with malevolent plans could use the constantly updated info on facebook (say, if they were a friend of a friend. . .) to make their job of screwing up your life much, much easier.

I'm there, and I'm really careful about permissions and what I post.

I'm on it but only because someone asked me to sign up. A couple of people have looked me up but other than that, I haven't gone near it.

The more you have hanging out there, the more you have hanging out there.

My school daze wuz so long ago, I'm afraid to ask "how's so and so?", cause a lot of them 'ain't' anymore.

Ah, ya gotta be yung, jung, to benefit from this here facebook thingy. Anyone I wants ta meet, I have already.

Karrie mentioned a high school reunion. Last one of those we had here, I phoned up a good friend from school daze. We hung out for many years, and have kept in touch. Here's the jist of the conversation:
"Hey .............Looie........(say)......you goin to the reunion?"
"Nah, you??
"Nah. How's "Jane" and the kids?"
"Good. We'll be down in July, you be there?"
"Dam straight if yer comin down. Gimme a call before, eh?"
"K. Hey, gotta run. Call ya next month, set up some fishin"
"Fersure. Take care eh"
"You too, dickhead"
"Up yours"
"Bye"
"Bye"
........click........
That was my high school reunion.
No one else I wanted to see.
Had quite a few acquaintances, but only a couple of close friends, and it was SO long ago.
But, for others, whatever does it fer ya, eh.

Durka, I guess I'm old school. I realize the potential of Facebook but I also recognize its drawbacks. You only have so much time in a day. The more that sites like Facebook become successful the less time there is for paling institutions like posting boards. Bloggers have devastated posting communities and now sensations like Facebook mean to further erode the health and viability of places like this. There was huge participation on posting boards in the late '90's. This one's not doing too badly but it's a shadow of the things that once were.

Facebook has no blog function as of yet though. I spend less than three minutes on facebook everyday. You dictate your own time on there by how many little functions you have. I spend a tad more time now that I have a scrabble application. For a week now, a friend and I play scrabble through there. Another two weeks, and we might be done the game. lol. But it really doesn't need to be very time consuming.

I spend very little time on facebook now, after the initial "wow factor" wears off, it's just another website.
