Seriously, I can live without all the corporate culture and materialism. However, some people have the wish to stay put and would like the assurances of being protected, under the law should they purchase the title to a parcel of land/house/farm etc. Owning land doesn't enslave you, unless you're obtaining it for less than honorable uses.

The economy is 60-70% services currently.

but Toro, look closely,

land "ownership" in canada pretty much consists of the top 1 inch of soil. the government can remove you at any time. what you have is more akin to a open-ended lease with a large deposit as opposed to ownership. (There are a few other philosphical issues on ownership as well, but i won't go into them here).

I disagree that captialism is the best system for anything! Pure capitalism is as self destructive as pure socialism or pure communism.
