The King has honoured his sister Princess Anne for "her loyalty and her unwavering devotion to duty" by giving her a key coronation role on May 6.
The Princess Royal is said to be "incredibly honoured" to be the Gold-Stick-in-Waiting during the historic event. Gold Stick is a personal attendant to the Sovereign on ceremonial occasions and dates back to Tudor times.
Princess Anne will travel on horseback behind the newly crowned King and Queen following the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
There are two Gold Sticks: one is the Colonel of the Life Guards and one is the Colonel of the Blues and Royals. Only one is on duty at any one time. Princess Anne holds the title as she is Colonel of the Blues and Royals.
