Some of you may or may not know that in Australia, voting in government elections is compulsory.

If you don’t vote, you get fined (around $90). It’s taken very seriously. It’s compulsory for all local, state and federal elections.

Do you guys think it should be compulsory? It’s seen as your basic duty as a citizen.

(Note if you have a good reason why you couldn’t vote you can appeal the fine eg you were in hospital, overseas etc).

What say you???

As long as the choice "None of the above" or the ability to spoil ones ballot is available, I have no issue with compulsory voting. But right now we already have enough ignorant people (lets call them Liberals) voting so not sure what adding 50% more will do.
