By reading some of Reverend's posts, I know he is a born writer, and very good at it too. Rev, why don't you write for a living? You are very good at it...clever, amusing, worldly, you could make a fortune doing what you do best and have fun at the same time.

I do write for a living now, Omega. It's not exactly a way to get rich though...just earn a living. Right now I'm trying to get the local head shop to let me do a profile on them. They are, understandably, suspicious. ;-)

I was under the impression that Condi wasn't into the rapture thing, Rick. Thanks for depressing me even more.

If the rest of you want a glimpse of how off the wall this belief system is, just pick up the first book of the Left Behind series. I started reading it thinking it was just science fiction. It isn't.

What do we really know about Colin Powell?

With all the descriptions that are claimed ..... He was a "Yes" man or he would not of made General. He was a "Yes" man but for US consumption and the need for heros, they claim him to be a "moderate". Can yuh handle that, eh?

All these cabinet members and CIA guys and newspapers that are out-front now ..... apologizing ..... for "mistakes" .... where were they when the world needed truth?

When Kerry's Vietnam Vet's video hit the media, I sure wish CNN and the Boys had of "censored" that because of not knowing the facts, just as they have with the recent war crime in Iraq.

Just like Ronnie Ray-Gun. The media would have us believe that he was a God fearing man .... but we should remember that Ronnie and Nancy were found in the arms of a Tarot Card reader and an astrologer when the chips were down.

Ever since Ronnie Ray-Gun worked for General Electric, the CIA is running the US media. Ronnie Ray-Gun was a CIA informant when he was head of the Screen Actors Guild.

Colin Powell is nothing but a "Yes" man and he lied (while knowing the truth) at the UN.

He did not get his first name "Colon" for nothing!

The same thing is happening now as it did during the 60's and 80's when unemployment began to rise. Every station has a cop show of some kind. (The History Channel will always have a dose of guilt from the hollocaust to share).

The politicians are running scared! Just like they did in the 60's when protests and anti-government stuff was happening. In the 60's they started the war on drugs and every TV show was about drug dealers.

Look at what they did for themselves because they know that there are going to be riots in the streets.

In the depression years, ordinary German folks were angry with the Jews because German citizens could only remember who owned the pawn shops as the poor were selling their family jewels to eat. Hitler jumped on the bandwagon and used the media to pursuade the population that it was all their fault. Well, the same thing is happening now. There is a lot of anti-jew feelings out there. So much so that a law was passed recently.

As the economy worsens, the more "heros" will be paraded out for our consumption.

During Ray-Gun's wars in Central America, and when the US was scouring the world for money to finance the wars, the US needed to up the interest it was willing to pay the lenders in order to get the money needed. Interest Rates were 22% in Canada.
They blamed it on "inflation" and the need to control it.
The inflation talk has started again! The cost of mortages are gonna sky rocket! In Toronto, there are more condos being built because the money lenders see it coming down the pipe. People are gonna start selling their homes and downsizing to condo's.

And .... sell your Vans now. Remember the 80's when you could get an old Ford Econoline Van for next to nothing because of fuel prices?

Newspapers can never tell us the truth. If the truth was known, there would be riots in the streets and during a riot, people don't buy newspapers, they steal them.

And always remember that the US went into Iraq to bring them democracy and justice. The great country of law and order. It takes an overdose of nerve to go outside after dark in Miami.

Actually, Condi is part of the Christian right: she's a Republican, and also a born-again Christian. I heard she used to give bible-lessons.
So what's that, the kiss of death? I'm a Christian, I give "Bible lessons", does that make me evil? Or is it okay to be a Christian if you're on the left?

No, of course not LadyC, that was not my intention! It's just that there has been criticm on the fact that Bush as a born-again Christian has too much involved his religion into politics. I fear that Condalleeza Rice could do the same. I agree that the bible-lesson thing is useless information - I'll remove that one from my post. I don't think that being Christian, nor being on the right, makes you evil LadyC.

No offense taken, Rick - I was just making a point. In my opinion, a person's religious beliefs should be irrelevant to his/her politics, unless they make them an issue. So far I haven't seen Rice do anything of the sort.

This goes for any religion, whether Christian, Jewish, Islam, or even atheist/agnostic.

That's my opinion too, Lady C...separation of church and state. When Rick said Bible lessons, I assumed he meant at the prayer meetings during Bush's cabinet meetings. Regardless of my apparent misunderstanding and Rick's offer of a retraction, I'm very nervous about Rice's beliefs/tendencies.

The whole rapture thing is extremely disturbing given the Bush regime's radical religious intolerance and the situation in Israel and Palestine. I'm not at all interested in getting naked and frolicking with cherubs in the clouds...not that I'd be invited.

I dunno - frolicking naked sounds so... intriguing. ;)

I don't expect Rick to edit his post - he made his point, I have no problem with that. I assumed "Bible lessons" referred to Sunday School classes. I have no idea what Rice's religious beliefs/practices are, but given what I know of Bush, I wouldn't be surprised if he surrounded himself with like-minded people.

I agree with you on separation of Church and State. So you see, Christians and Atheists can see eye to eye on some things.

Frolicking naked sounds fun, but nobody has mentioned a clause where we all get to be twenty again. There could be some pretty ugly clouds up there.

I see eye to eye with Christians on a lot of things...I just have a major problem with literalism. I believe it should be a sin.

I agree with you LadyC that we should wait for what Rice's policy will be. But as I said, Rice does have a reputation as being very similar in her views compared to Bush. Bush has implemented certain Christian values into his political agenda, to such a degree that I believe the seperation of Church and state is violated.

Powell did say that, sj. It isn't uncommon for people to say things like that at the beginning of the first term though. There was a lot of hope that Powell would stay on to provide at least some moderation to the insanely war-like Bush crew.
