So,Leonard was writing about a real life woman when he wrote his famous and beautiful song "Suzanne" and she is alive and living in Venice Beach,California. This was in a news piece on CBC News last night. She is basically homeless and lives in her pickup truck, but still has all her ideals and values..the same ones that attracted Leonard to her in the 1960's. Imagine! A real life Muse, and still among us :) Although the story was bittersweet,it was wonderfully done & Kudos to MotherCorp for doing this.

I remember that album cover from my youth, with the woman in chains in flames....

Suzanne takes you down
To her place near the river
.....

I once had a girlfriend named Suzanne. She wasn't a Leonard Cohen fan, though.

They revisited her old apartment in Montreal where she used to entertain Len & things had stayed mostly the same as they were in the '60s. It's only been lately that I can play that song again..there was a sad young girl living downstairs who played it loudly so many times that it became annoying. Suzanne said that she had met Cohen again a few years ago and he snubbed her. Guess you can't go back again. Did you get that magazine?
