I can't get the editor modes to work for me, oh well, links may not be live.
While Rona Ambrose [Rambrose?], PM Harper's Environment minister, is telling Canadians that "We CANNOT meet the Kyoto targets", others are allready bracing and planning to deal with the problems that are arising out of climate changes in British Columbia. Things are getting done locally while the Feds hold the whole movement back!!!!
That defeatist attitude in conservatives would ONLY come when it benefits the oil industry... these are the "Whatever it takes" people who dream big and get the job done no matter who dies. "Can't" was never in their dictionary until Kyoto targets came along.
So, it is a big farce that we cannot meet Kyoto targts for emssions reductions.
41 of 43 nations that signed on to Kyoto ARE GOING TO MEET THE TARGETS. Sure, there are some emissions tradings and some of those nations had very little emissions, but Canada has not even tried. "We give up, can't do it, waaa waaa waaa. "
BULLoney. Sure we can, but certain industries are not willing to reduce their RECORD PROFITS by addressing emissions in their operations. The oil industry is still working hard to DENY global warming is real and comes from burning fossil fuels. Citizens alone could meet half the targets by installing solar panels and rducing fossil fuels use, even just "letting" people drive hybrid cars [production of which is being done very slowly on purpose so we cannot get them]. Canadians WANT to do it [fossil fuel emission reductions] ; the governments are not helping and sometimes actually getting in the way.
In Canadian policitcs, there is nobody brave enough to utter these words:
"WE MUST REDUCE OUR USE OF FOSSIL FUELS". Not one politician, including the wussy Jack Layton, silent leader of the NDP [NDPoo?], has spoken that phrase which is our salvation, our only salvation, from global warming - its about the fossil fuels stupid!
Instead, they might say "human activities", or "emissions", but not "its the damn fossil fuels we are burning and it HAS to be reduced".
So, as someone who saw that burning fossil fuels was not a benign activity many years ago, I must say that I now regret not doing radical things years ago to raise awareness and reduce emissions. Its too late to avoid the changes, but we can still avoid the worst of the destruction and misery that nature can bring with climate change if we act soon and strongly in reducing emissions from FOSSIL FUELS.
Rambrose is doing her job for the oil industry by getting in the way, while locally people are getting things done to brace for the impacts. Locally, there is only so much we can do to stop emissions, we need the federal leadership that Harper is refusing to give - his hands are TIED by his dependancy on the oil industry contributions and support for his politcal carreer. Don't doubt this conspiracy - you've allready seen how they used fake science to combat the movement to avoid global warming. Its real, justlike globalwarming is real. And we are letting it happen ON OUR WATCH - will you be a hero to your grandkids or a co-conspirator?
