The first Russian cosmonaut was Jurri Gagarin (died flying a MIG 17 , under influence )
and the first woman cosmonaut (still the only woman who flew in space by her self) was............Valentina Tiereszkova

Somewhere in a fall of 1963 as a member of Young peoples Aeroclub in Katowice ,Poland we had a chance to meet both of them personally .
