rape is rape...isn't it? Revenge/retribution rape sounds a bit weird. I think that these men who enacted revenge/retribution on this scum bag may have just been opportunistic and/or securing their reputation.

I thought what you wrote was pretty plain. Molly coddle in this case means light sentences so there's no deterrent for others- too often these perpetrators are treated as mental cases instead of 3rd degree criminals.

Normally I would agree with you Sal that rape is rape. In this particular case though there is just too much poetic justice. There are times when a good taste of ones own medicine is the best punishment and in this case a quick death by a needle or the chair just doesn't seem fitting and frankly would be letting this dirtbag off way too easy.
