As a youngster I lived andworked on a farm that had six boars and twenty or so sows. We pastured the sows and kept the boars outside as well but separate.... When piggies were coming we took the sows inside and partitioned-off a corner with a heat lamp to keep the baby bacon nice and warm...and quiet...(noisy little dudes!) We cut the boars tusks off and castrated the weiners on a regular rotation. Babies got iron supplements and had their teeth cut down.
