Re: 2 Dead, 22 Shot in 12 Hours in Chicago

what a complete sh!thole.

Two people were killed and 20 others were wounded in a rash of gun violence over the course of 12 hours in Chicago, two weeks after the city was rocked by gunfire over the Independence Day holiday.

One of the victims was 11-year-old Shamiya Adams, who was shot in the head at a sleepover at a friend's home in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood at around 9:35 p.m. Friday.

Police called the string of shootings "unacceptable" and said "there is clearly much more work to be done."

Adams was in a first floor bedroom when gunshots came in through the window, originating from somewhere outside the house, Chicago Police Department spokesman Officer Jose Estrada said.

An example of gun control at work . Just imagine the casualty count if they didn't have gun control in Chicago .

Internal refugees status, that might work, get the drinking water, or something like that, condemned and whole place can be moved under humanitarian concerns at UN expense if the US allows foreign help.

Everybody knows radiation in North America is much different than similar things in Japan . . . not.(the 1.7% that Japan is adding mixes with the 8.9% that the US Govt allows under it's internal safety guidelines just so building costs are lower) With 10% being the 'safe level' in that it is undetected as a cause of illness the little bit brings the overall level above the safe level while Japan is closer it's previous level was at 1% so it can add 8.9% and still be 'safer' than parts of the US. (who now has to invent nuclear accidents (and other fictions) to explain why background contaminates are 7% higher everywhere compared to what was claimed after the trillion was spent on 'extra safety'. (boils down to a small accident that should have minimal impact on the locals ends up having consequences that belong to exposures that are many time higher) Money pocketed by the shareholders of the businesses that populate that industry.
It isn't so much that it did happen that way as if it could be engineered to happen that way they would not hesitate to implement it for any reason other than greed, that should be a bit scarey. Watchdog Societies used to limit that sort of corruption in politics and commerce, they have been done away with.

I'm confused. You mean the opposite. You mean like Canada?
I'm confused also, open carry could have meant the 2nd victim was the one who did the first killing, saving 22 others all suffering.

I'd just pack everyone into the car and start over. You can't build a life if they keep shooting at you for no known reason. Ireland was bad enough but at least you knew why (sort of)

Think random and think Pavlov.

What is going on in Chicago? Just a few months ago the same sort of headline was printed.

Gun control? When do people who want to kill register their gun?

When I first read the thread title earlier today before my first coffee, I
mentally confused Chicago with Detroit, and wondered where in they'd
even find 24 people to be shot in a 12hr span. I guess Chicago still has
people in it opposed to Detroit though.

For now, but it seems like they're working on that.

CHICAGO – A Nordstrom worker shot by her former boyfriend in a Chicago store died on Saturday, police sources said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Nadia Ezaldein, 22, of Hialeah, Florida. The man, identified as Marcus Dee, 31, shot himself and was declared dead at the scene, police said. His place of residence was not known.
The shooting, on the second floor of the high-end retailer in the popular "Magnificent Mile" shopping district, sent Black Friday customers scattering from the store.
The woman's family said Dee had physically abused her throughout their relationship, and had harassed both the woman and her family since their breakup last December, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Meanwhile, in Chicago again...

that bastion of community organizing and such:

$82,000 stolen from nonprofit paid for plastic surgery, trips, Victoria's Secret: prosecutors

A Gold Coast woman who was the human resources director for a social justice nonprofit stole more than $82,000 from the agency over five years, using the money for items such as plastic surgery, overseas trips and clothing from Victoria’s Secret, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Amy Spicer, 40, is charged with felony theft for stealing the money from the Center for New Community in Chicago using credit cards and her control of flexible spending accounts, according to court documents. The agency focuses on issues of immigration, race and economic inequality, according to its website.

Spicer, who has no prior arrests, was released on a personal-recognizance bond Tuesday following a hearing in bond court before Judge Donald Panarese, according to prosecutors and court records.

Officials with the agency were not available for comment Tuesday.

Re: Meanwhile, in Chicago again...

Spicer “liberally used the Center’s credit cards for personal expenses, and never reimbursed the Center for her charges,” charging personal expenses on the cards more than 650 times from Jan. 1, 2009, to March 28, 2013, for a total of of $71,230.62, prosecutors said in a filing Tuesday.

how bizarre usually there is a continuing audit...how strange to have not had one for years or a need to hand the expenses in for approval...seems she had carte blanche for spending...that is highly unusual...I hope they make her pay it back

Reports: Chicago police officer to be charged with murder of black teen shot 16 times

By Yanan Wang November 24

A white Chicago police officer is expected to be charged with murder in the 2014 shooting death of an African American teenager caught on dash-cam video, sources close to the investigation told the Associated Press, the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times Monday night.

Unnamed officials told the news organizations that Officer Jason Van Dyke is expected to appear at a bond hearing at noon Tuesday at which time he is also expected to be charged with murder. His lawyer has said that the officer’s actions were lawful.
“He believed in his heart of hearts that he was in fear for his life…he was concerned about the lives of [other] police officers,” Daniel Herbert told reporters last week.

If Van Dyke is indicted, the case will mark the first time a Chicago police officer has been charged with first-degree murder for an on-duty fatality in 35 years, according to the Tribune.

These reports come just a week after a judge ruled that the footage of the shooting must be released to the public by Wednesday.

Not to worry. They'll just pull a Dante Servin.

Actually, depending on the range, this is pretty good shooting:

I have a big problem with the diagram used by the Office of the Medical Examiner... Gender bias and looks an awful lot like some crackers I know.

There is a dashcam video of the incident from the dash of the police car, so it seems like a cut and dried case. We'll see what the trial brings up.
