Ottawa struck twice early scoring a TD on their opening drive of the game and again in their second possession after the RB's defence recovered a punt return putting the offence back on the field at the Esks 40. Two plays later and they were in the end zone. Milo missed the convert and they lead 13 - 0 with 6:49 to play in the 1rst and the Esks in scoring territory.

Esks held to a FG by RB defense.

Esks intercept Hank and take the ball downfield 61 yards for a TD to cut Ottawa's lead to 3 with just over a minute left in the 1rst.

Hank sacked twice to close out quarter - got away with the first one when Esk tackle was tagged for unnecessary roughness but couldn't out run the last blitz. Ottawa will be 3 and lots to open the 2nd.

Ottawa up by six after Milo connects for a FG.

Esks held to another FG attempt that failed. Ottawa gave them a point and now lead by 5.

Eskimos get a TD, fail on the 2-point attempt but take the lead by 1 point to end the first half.

17 - 16 Esks

Ottawa goes ahead by 2 points on a Milo FG.

Cutler goofs and puts his punt in the end zone which cuts RB's lead to 1 but they will have much better field position.

Cutler hits the uprights on FG attempt and Ottawa retains 1 point lead after their defense stymied Edmonton.

Milo mistakenly boots one into the end zone and the RB's are ahead by 2 with just under 8 to play in the 4th.

3:17 Eskimos get TD and 2-point convert to take 6 point lead.

Edmonton is going to win the Grey Cup.......there are only seconds left and they lead 26 to 20. Well good for Mike and the guys. And good on Ottawa for getting this far in only their second year in the CFL.

Eskimos 26-20 Redblacks. Heck of a game.

Is it some kind of rule both sides play offense in the first half, and defense in the second half?

Way to go, Esks!

Kind of an odd game. When Milo missed the convert attempt you just knew Ottawa's momentum was finished.

I'm offended by the Eskimos name.
And they're offended by your existence. Walter, if you don't appreciate football and the Grey Cup, why don't you be a decent human being for once and f*ck off so those of us who do can talk about it.

You are the pushiest little bastard in all Canada, like a damn little kid insisting on breaking into every conversation whether he understands or not, in a desperate plea for attention.

The best player on the field was Ottawa's running back, from Kansas City, William Powell.

Powell had about 130 all-purpose yards but not one came easy. He fought like a pitbull all game.

I see wally is going to come back as the coach next season, tedford has accepted a college position,
which he was rumoured to be considering, big bucks in it for him.

I welcome wally back, he must still have the spark to coach, or he wouldn't do it. its all about
putting fans in the seats as well, and helping the team to improve, and I suppose all the while
he is doing that, he will watch for his replacement in the future, I'm sure this isn't a move
he is taking for the long term.

and of course all of you fans across the country will applaud his return right?

I await your loving replies. lol

Never been a big fan of Wally, talloola. At the same time I've always credited his ability to put together winning teams. I hope for the Lions' sake he is able to pull it off again.

I'd be surprised to see Lulay back but the Lion's have a great replacement if they keep Jonathan Jennings. He showed he has the ability to be a star in our league.

In other CFL news, it appears that my Riders are in talks with Chris Jones - current coach of the Esks - in the hopes that he will come to Sask as our new HC.

And it was announced today that Jon Cornish has retired from football. Farewell Jon, I wish you well in all your future endeavors. Your accomplishments on the field will live long after you've hung up your cleats.

I feel sad for lulay, that shoulder of his has prevented him from returning to the early days of his
career, he was such an exciting player, great competitor, but who knows, maybe next year, on another
team, he will rise and be that player again, but the lions can't ignore Jennings, this fellow is
ready to take this team and go, just like lulay did a few years ago, I don't want lulay to go
anywhere, but time waits for no one, and it seems he will go elsewhere, and I wish him well wherever
he lands.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have named Chris Jones vice-president of football operations, general manager, and head coach. Jones becomes the 16th general manager and 46th head coach in the club’s history.

Jones spent the previous two years as the head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos. Last season, Jones guided the Eskimos to a league leading 14-4 record before going on to capture the Grey Cup with a 26-20 win over Ottawa.

In his first season at the helm in Edmonton, the Eskimos finished second in the West Division with a 12-6 record, before losing the 2014 West Final to Calgary. It was a remarkable, and club record, eight win improvement from the previous season.

Jones was selected a finalist for CFL Coach of the Year following both his seasons with Edmonton.

Jones joined the CFL coaching ranks in 2002. After one season as Montreal’s defensive line coach he was named the Alouettes defensive coordinator where he spent the next five seasons. He then joined the Calgary Stampeders in 2008 where he spent four seasons as defensive coordinator as well as two of those as assistant director of player personnel. He later joined the Toronto Argonauts for the 2012 and 2013 seasons as defensive coordinator and assistant general manager.

Through his 14 CFL seasons Jones has never missed the playoffs, reaching 12 division finals with seven Grey Cup appearances between Montreal, Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton – winning in 2002, 2008, 2012 and 2015.

He began his college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee Tech University in 1995 and spent seven years in the NCAA before entering the CFL.
