Isn't the real reason she was fired is because her remarks can and have caused a decline in international relations between the countries? Do Canadians want MP's to speak freely even though it might damage your standing with the international community? What if a conservative MP said something that caused another country to condemn Canada at the UN?
Just curious...
Like a poker chip she was played to get votes and played to get a deal. Martin is no fool. I do not fear Carolyn's remarks as much as Bushes actions that she is remarking on. We have and are being economically penetrated. Corporations (And the stockholders) have the same rights as Canadian citizens under NAFTA and the national treatment clause. Canada is for sale. That was the big plan for more jobs, we now have to provide 2/3s of our oil and gas to the US even if there is a shortage and with FTAA we will be deregulating our transportation, communications and financial institutions, bye-bye dollar and independent media. Also we are given no 'choice' with Martin at the helm in regards to missile defence. Foreign troops will be deployed on our soil that will not be defending us but them while keeping us under their control. That is an invasion, to deny that is to deny reality as any nation that relies on another to defend it's borders soon is not a country at all. Canada will be a geographical term, not a country and we will have irrelevant rights and an irrelevant vote to an irrelevant government while our birthright is sold from underneath us at fire sale prices. We need more of Carolyn's remarks, not less. We need actions to back up the words not to declare war but to defend our way of life that is very much worth defending.
