Re: Distrust for Harper

You know, to be honest, sometimes I'm not sure why I have such a lack of trust for the Honourable Stephen Harper. There's just something about him that puts me off the Tories; if they had another leader, maybe any other leader, I would be far less "distrusting" of the party.

Could it be the Liberal attack ads? ;)

Just joking.

Well, I actually felt a lot like you at one point. Until I saw him very relaxed, and joking, in front of a press gallery. Until I saw some campaign pictures of him with his wife and children. That makes him seem a bit more real to me.

I'm still weighing between PC, and NDP (oddly enough many would say) in my riding.

If the US were about to start a new war, and weren't about to essentially end one, I would be concerned over a too cozy Harper/Bush relationship with David Frum probably acting as a go-between. As is, I'm not that worried.

I dont think there will be another war or anthing like that.....I think a Harper government will hold more clout and hopefully be more effective in fighting on the softwood issue. One must also understand that softwood in not Bush....but I think Harper may be able to relay our message down in the US better than Martin.

Imagine after all teh US bashing...the kind of relationship we will have if Martin is reelected!!!! what an idiot, he cant see past tomorrow

Maybe what you're saying is that a republican patsy like Harper will get results because he is a republican patsy. Of course a small c conservative, ndper or social liberal will not be heard by the Bush admin. To deal with Bush you have to be like Bush or its a no go.
Thats the intolerance down there and I can't trust Harper cause he's a neo-con Bushite and not a Canadian small c conservative. He will cave on the social issues to get progress on softwood.

Oh why did they pick Harper. Almost anyone else I could vote for (but not Stockwell of course lol). We could do so much better. And don't forget about Harpers '97 speech. If only 1/4 of it is his true convictions then he can't be trusted at all. That being said I believe we can weather a Harper govt. but it won't be anything to be proud of. I mean just look at them. Squaresville.

I'm also scared of all the US neo-con advisors and wingnuts that will head to Ottawa if Harper wins. Wait till we get full security integration too (hi Mr. NSA watcher). Also I don't think being critical of the Bush regime is US bashing. It's a right and a duty

If you want to see the lighter, relaxed side of Harper, go here:

No matter what party has your vote, you will find Harper's speech (over on the right side) to be hilarious at times. He makes fun of his party numerous times, himself, and not to mention his opponents in a light-hearted way.

I'll see a lighter side of Harper when we're siting around the campfire and I pass him a joint and he says
'"no thanks dude but go ahead its cool with me as long as you're pullling your weight"
lol Harper is not a libertarian.

Sharing....That isn't what I call it when over half of someones income is going to feed the government so Martin can by votes with it. Maybe he is refering to the skimming off the top by his own party....
