Canadian Tire pulls clown decor over killer clown scares

Canadian Tire has pulled its Halloween clown decorations from stores following a rash of recent creepy clown stories.
The decorations were removed from stores across Canada and online last week to be “sensitive to recent pranks,” a spokesperson for the company told the CBC.
The store stocked two clown products: an “animated rotating clown” and a 60-cm hanging clown decoration. Web pages for both decorations have also since been removed.
While the spokesperson told the CBC she was not aware of any customer complaints contributing to the decision, one customer did highlight the issue in a post to the company’s official Facebook page last week.
“Canadian Tire ... not sure what you’re thinking ???? With the spate of clown scares lately, I was surprised to be greeted by this creepy clown Halloween costume,” the post said.
Responses to the post were mixed with some agreeing with a clown ban, while others pointed out that there, “have been no ‘clown attacks,’ only clown sightings.”
There has been an international hysteria in recent weeks caused by dozens of creepy clown sightings all over North America and the U.K.
