Are there any torrents around of CBC progams, such as Kids in the Hall, North of 60 and DaVinci's Inquest? I'm not interested in most US tv.

Trailer Park Boys

Simply put, excellent Canadian television. Just try to find an American, or any show for that matter, currently on TV funnier than TPB (I say currently because Married...With Children still takes the award for best TV show ever in my books)

Corner Gas isn't bad either I guess. I like it because I grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan and can relate every character to someone I know.

Yeah, Trailer park Boys is a must. So is Corner gas. It seems that comedy is where we excel at, but even the not quite funny programs can be uniqely canadian.

Davincis' Inquest is CSIish, but without the funky graphics and such and it has a canadian feel because it sometimes touches actual topics that is in the news, Pickton(different name of course, but same situation) for example, legalizing prostitution, drop in Heroin centres etc...

This is Wonderland I thought was also your typical lawer show but the cast in it are very interesting along with character development and storyline. It sometimes seems to border on comedy without being too silly. Try to mix Night court with Made in Canada, and some other program that I can't quite put my finger on.

As for old classics does anyone remember four on the floor?
apparently the Frantics still do some shows with new material...they haven't lost their edge, especially when doing church skits.

Where The Wild Things Are
Remember Seeing Things? About the private investigator who would have visions about the crimes he was investigating? I think that was a Canadian show. Loved it! Very clever and funny.

Or King of Kensington with Al Waxman?

Or The Beachcombers! Relic's black jet boat was the coolest.

The Friendly Giant! "...and here's a rocking chair for someone to curl up beside the fire"

But what I miss the most are the "Vignettes", like the one with the logger's dance, or the one about Wild Bill: "hands up, pardner....haaaa-aa-aands up". Or the Big Snit and other NFB classics. LOL! That poor cat cracked me up. :D

I vote for Trailer Park Boys, its quite entertaining. On the polar opposite is Train 48, which has to be the crappiest tv show ever. It doesn't get anymore exciting then a show which takes place on a GO Train.

There have been lots of good Canadian shows, but I can't say I watch any currently.

As a child, I enjoyed Friendly Giant, Mr. Dress-up, Fred Penner's Place, Today's Special, Polka Dot Door, Romperoom.

I always like the Littlest Hobo as well. Other popular Canadian shows were ENG, Traders, Blue Shield or Blue Murder. There are other shows that look like American shows, Sue Thomas FB Eye, Andomeda, Stargate.

Canada really doesn't do sitcoms and when it does to shows, most pretend to be in the US, why dunno.

Corner Gas is a truly funny show. Its the only one I'll go out of my way to watch.

Canadians have always made pretty good comedy but there are few, if any, drama shows I've ever thought were any good. I've never really understood this because there are some really good Canadian movies.

Trailer Park Boys

Yup, Trailer Park Boys and Red Green are two of the best TV shows I have ever seen. It just so happens they are both Canadian shows.

Married With Children still takes the award for best TV show ever in my books

TPB is far superior.

Trailer Park Boys is probably one of the best Canadian comedies to come along in a long, long time. Who knew Mr. Lehey and Randy were really gay??

I LOVED Degrassi jr/sr high too - Wheels was dreamy until he had to wear those glasses.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this show so I guess I will "Da Vinci's Inquest". I think it's pretty well done and the dialogue has got a certain "realness" that you don't see in other shows. My fav. Canadian show has got to be TPB though.

Anybody here old enough

to remember "This Hour Has Seven Days"?

It was probably the best Satirical, current affairs program. It was produced by CBC. It was cancelled when it got a little too biting for the federal government of the day.

Night Heat was one Canadian show I enjoyed watching. It aired back in the mid-80's. Really good police drama series.
Actually, "Night Heat" was a 1985-1991 Canadian-U. S. co-production between Alliance Entertainment and Grosso-Jacobson Productions which was set in New York, but filmed in Toronto.

From the time of its filming, my best memory of their production was that, in order to believably substitute Toronto for New York City, set decorators were forced to artistically strew uncollected garbage about their shooting locations.

On one night, their shooting schedule fell behind because, during a break in shooting, regular city garbage collection services came by and ruined the set’s continuity, by collecting all their atmospheric garbage.

I love Canadian TV, and it sounds ridiculous because we don't watch much here in the States, but we love to watch it up there. Your history channel is awesome (not all war-centered like in the US), and we always seem to find some sort of cool documentary, history program, or music show that we'd never see down here. We've learned so much about Newfoundland, the Acadian expulsion, the maritime fishing industry, Mantioba pioneering...plus of course your music is better so even the music shows are great. Last time we were up north we saw a concert by Sarah Harmer on Canadian "Bravo"--no one down here has even heard of her, I don't think, but it was great for us! And of course we love to watch the CBC; much better than the drivel down here.

Say what you want, but I'll toast to Canadian TV anyday! {holds up bottle of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale here} :)
