Oh, I get you - yes, Andrew probably is the song-of-the-day guy, on KAB's twitter, judging by his eclectic tastes.
Um, and the guy we saw in 7 -11 is someone who has been seen in pics with S. Luna and with the band, previously. I think there was one picture that was at a mall, and people were asking who this guy was. For some reason I seem to remember another picture where he was eating pizza. Does that ring a bell?
No? probably not.
I forgot to say. I approve of CSA with red electric guitar. Kris's confidence shone on that one. It was fantastic - what did you think in person?
I don't remember it al that well, to be honest. Kind of ashamed of myself. Somebody asked me the same thing after the concert, and I said, "Wait, which song did he play the red guitar on?" I think it's kind of a blur when you see it all at once, and only once, rather than recorded. But yeah, the whole number sounded fabulous, so I'm sure Kris playing electric contributed to that sound. I mean, that number really killed. I wondered if they rearranged some of these songs since I last saw them (Sept.). Can you tell? They seem different, and better.
One thing I've been thinking, today, and it kind of surprised me, is that I only watched Kris most of the time. Not that the band isn't awesome, but he is almost the whole show, when you see him live.
I was also thinking a little bit about Lifehouse, today. Jason Wade sang amazingly well for someone who has to sing for alomost 90 minutes straight (he took a break, occasionally. For ex., the guitar player sang one whole number by himself). Also, I like his voice better, live. They're definitely a band that sounds as good (or better), live, as the do in the studio.
They do a lot of rock band schtick - the guitar and bass player taking their solos down front, flipping their long hair around, etc. - but it's not too cheesy. In the middle of the set the band leaves and Jason takes acoustic requests from the audience. Then after a long while, the drummer comes out and stands there in profile, facing Jason for a long time, until Jason notices him, interrupts himself, speaks to the drummer sotto voce, and comes back to the mic and says that the drummer says he's bored. They do a little comedy bit but it doesn't quite come across as hilarious, I think because the drummer looks too shy/awkward doing the bit. Anyhow, at that point Jason tells the drummer to go back to his drums, and he starts playing, and the band comes back on and they crank it up again. The acoustic thing is a good idea. They vary their set a lot; it works well.
Anyhow, Jason is pretty good, but I found myself comparing him to Kris - or Jacob, or other charismatic singers - and found him a little lacking in presence and charisma. Just a little, though. All in all, Lifehouse was extremely solid, and they give the audience a great show.
I thought Kris and KAB - though different in style, in volume, in a lot of things - absolutely held their own, up against Lifehouse. They could easily have been co-headliners. That's pretty good considering Lifehouse has been around 11 years and KAB hasn't. Of course I'm very biased...
