Both struggling, both going for the safe options (they don't make all those remakes and sequels for nothing), while there's a rich "independent" world underneath all the blockbusters on the surface.
Really good point. They do play it safer than they should in both industries. They're afraid of new ideas. When if they expand their boundaries they could get something with the success like Glee.
So I think another problem is commercial radio itself, and how it has changed and become much more mainstream, while the less-mainstream stations seem to have gone under, in a lot of places.
True, plus a lot of big corporations own a lot of the stations. That's so apparent if you look at a lot of station websites (like I do, lol) They're all the same. Right down to the news on the website.
And I know that even fun pop music, without necessairly having artistic merits, can come from a genuine place, and not from the head of an A&R guy, counting his money.
I guess the main problem then is corporate greed and how it affects the music industry as a whole, the music that they promote, the writers that they employ and the stations that play the music. So that's an easy problem to solve.. *gulp*
Cow update for Kris' birthday: $11621.40... the goal being $12500.00
Almost there! To be honest, I am surprised by the fans' response to this. Pleasantly surprised.
Welcome imnotcaroline!
Ironically, Brian Mansfield seems to be the only one preoccupied by the combined sales of this single. The numbers he pulled out for the two tracks (the version on the album and the version with Pat Monahan) after Kris performed on Idol were quite interesting and showed that both were indeed being bought.
I was happy to see that too and I think that the more it's played on the radio the more the sales will increase.
