Also-- your thoughts: Is Kris going to do a music video or what? Adam is shooting his now, and it's the kind of thing I don't like, but that should not be a big stunner to anyone here. (You can find pics on MJ's blog.) Sunlight! Adam, go out into the sunlight! Wash your face! Open the windows, Estella! (<--Great Expectations reference.)

Is Kris too cheap to make a mv? I hope not. He needs it to sell the song. I'm trying to picture it. It should start with Kris lying in bed with some chick, and going through the whole theme...but where will Pat Monahan come in? Maybe he'll be outside the bedroom window on the fire escape? Or maybe he could be lying in bed with them, and you don't see him, and then he pops up unexpectedly and sings his part? That would be delightful. Anyhow, his inclusion is going to make this a hard video to do, unless they just film the two of them singing it in a studio, or something (zzzz).

I see what you're saying about Casey and I'd really like to agree with you. But I just don't like him. I don't feel hate towards him or anything, but he leaves me completely cold. Even his best performances have bored me very very much. And you know, the thing I like the less about him is his voice (you know, aside from the puffy hair), so it's kind of a deal-breaker. I've just never enjoyed him at all.

Lee has been far FAR from awesome on the show, whatever Simon says. But, if I have to choose, I choose him. Because his (recorded) voice appeals to me. I don't care for him though and I don't see myself chasing around the web looking for his interviews, etc (except for the required Idolatry interview!).

I agree with you about Crystal though. I like her as a person, but she doesn't bring any excitement and I don't see myself buying her music. My opinion of her went down as the season went on. I thought she was capable of more, but no.

I really don't have a clue about Kris's video. I hope he makes one.

The radio station I listen to added Adam's If I Had You. They haven't played it yet, but I'm sure it will come. I can't escape his music!

Oh, and Krinja_signal just confirmed that Kris will indeed be performing on the AI finale on May 26.

(Too bad he has to sing The Truth.)

Thanks! I just noticed today that Daniel Allen tweeted that his birthday present was a ticket to the AI finale. I wonder why I missed that tweet before? (I was reading through his tweets.)

I was glancing at MJ's comments and some people said one of Adam's band guys said they were going to be on the finale. (He was drunk, supposedly.) Ugh. I wouldn't put it past AI. And then after he performs his single, Adam will probably also be one of the guest stars and will sing with one of the idols, like Siobhan. I hope he isn't on the finale, period, that would really be overkill.

I'm feeling nostalgic tonight... I'm re-watching parts of CI6. So good *sigh*. Washes the bad taste from this awful season of AI away.

I love CI6. When I re-watched some of it recently I didn't think some of them lived up to my memeories of them, while others did. Did you have this impression too?

So it looks like Kris has cracked Top 50 on HAC. Also TT has the biggest bullet, or so people say. I don't really know what the heck that is. It's +25 or something.

Gina Orr tweeted Kris isn't in any one state long enough to make a video. (She did not tweet that one would be coming, eventually, though. That would have been nice to know.)

Allison's Don't Waste The Pretty is her next single. That's her third, right? They say three times is the charm.

Well, I'm only watching my favorite performances, those that I already love. Who were you refering to?

That means he had the biggest jump up the chart. A song that has a bullet on a chart means that the airplay for the song is increasing. So Kris had the biggest increase. Which makes sense since the add date for the song was just a couple of weeks ago.

Allison's Don't Waste The Pretty is her next single. That's her third, right? They say three times is the charm.

Good luck to Allison! Seems that they added Orianthi or something to the song too.

TT has a flashcard that was sent to Pop

I'm pretty sure you actually just posted it! It's written "flashcard Kris Allen CHR (contemporary hits radio)" in the link. There's no add date though.

So, we now know the judges's song choices for the top 3.

Ellen chose Paul McCartney's Maybe I'm Amazed for Crystal. I had to check it out, I didn't know what it was. I can totally picture Crystal singing it, but it doesn't scream current at all.

Simon chose Hallelujah for Lee. Hallelujah? WTF, Simon? Tim did that 2 months ago... this season!!! Simon sucks.

Kara and Randy chose John Mayer's Daughters for Casey. It's probably my favorite choice. At least, it's a recent song. But in my CI wanderings last night, I also checked out some of Greg's performances, and Daughters was probably my favorite performance from him. So, I like the song, but I don't like Casey, so it kind of cancels each other.

Aww, Lee was getting all choked up:

YouTube - Lee DeWyze - The Boxer

I've watched a few videos/interviews of Lee and I might actually like the guy a tiny bit better than I did yesterday. He showed more personality delivering the whether forecast than he has all season long.

I'm a sucker for homecomings, they always make me tear up.

Kris Allen, 'The Truth' -- New Song - AOL Radio Blog

Well, I'm only watching my favorite performances, those that I already love. Who were you refering to?

Well, most of my favorite performances were by Drew or Mitch, that season. But I also liked Mookie, Martin, Earl (sometimes), and I liked a lot of the group numbers. I liked Jesse Cottam, Shaun Francisco, and Oliver and Sebastian in the group numbers.

It was just certain individual numbers that I remembered as being better than they were. Some of Mitch's, I guess. When he was really pitchy. I never really liked Theo, but I remembered his voice as being better.

I think I was influenced by last season of AI. A friend of mine who's a CI fan said to me during last season (wrote to me, actually) that Kris was a lot like Drew. I immediately reacted, saying to myself, "Oh, no way, Kris is way better than Drew!" While I think all the CI6 people who were good were very good, I don't know if any one person had the potential to be a crowd pleaser. I think it was more just a great group of people that made it a great season.

I never saw CI5 so I started to watch it online and I was determined to get through it, but Jaydee was too much for me. I stopped at Greg's elimination. Not because I love Greg all that much. I don't know why I stopped then. It's not as fun to watch any of these shows if you know the results ahead of time.

Yeah, that's for sure. Still, I keep a better memory of it precisely because of that. I love both David and Kris, but a lot of stuff in their respective seasons was a let-down. Lots of people I never really enjoyed. Ramiele, Jason Castro, Syesha, I didn't like Carly that much either, Kristy Lee, Scott, Megan, Lil, Anoop, etc, etc. And this is not even talking about this season, oh boy. But from CI6, I thought the whole top 10 had their moments... well, maybe not Mark. And a lot of people from the top 24 were really strong.

So that's what I loved about it. I didn't care about not really having a horse in the race, because I could still watch the show and enjoy it very much. The top 5 show is my favorite Idol episode of all time and I didn't really care about who won from that group. The top 6 show, the top 8 show, all really strong.

And I'm not talking about the show itself, the themes, the judges, etc. CI wins everytime when I compare AI and CI. So yeah, I prefer both David and Kris to probably any other single contestant of CI ever, but the fact that the show as a whole was better makes me enjoy re-watching it more.

Yup, I agree with that.

ETA: The only thing I think we usually disagree on is that I really liked last year's AI group as a group, and you didn't (as much as I did). That's really what made the post-season stuff like the tour fun for me.

I haven't listened to the Paul McCartney song, and guess what? I don't think I know the John Mayer song, either. I'll probably recognize it when I hear it. I'm watching TV right now so I'm not going to listen to music, but I'll listen to them sooner or later.

I think the one good thing about Halleluja for Lee is that he's hardly ever sung a ballad like that, has he? He could have a 'moment' if he does it right. Then, if his second song is toatly different and he does a good job, he could make an impression that way.

I predicted Casey would get the song from Randy and Kara! It's funny how they give the one they don't want to win to the two judges nobody likes. Just like Kris last year. The 'lesser' judges choose the song for the 'lesser' contestant.

Yeah, for sure that makes a difference. In the end, the only one I really care about from season 8 is Kris. And David from season 7... though I have a week spot for Archie.

I agree with everything that reporter from the Seattle Times said. And he/she managed to be way more succinct than me in expressing what's the problem with the music industry:

It's part of a mainstream recording industry that really isn't all that interested in finding or developing or promoting fresh young talent anymore -- unless it's a full-service entertainer like Lady Gaga, who is as much about performance art and circus as music. Most of the creative energy is coming from the indy record scene.

About the other article you linked to... did you vote on that Billboard poll I posted yesterday? If you feel like voting, I'd say this is an important poll to vote on.

I was actually surprised that they let Ellen choose by herself! Can't say she's been that useful on the show this year.

You're right about Lee and Hallelujah. He needs to get rid of Bandzilla so that he isn't trying to over-power them (or the awful back-up singers). He's better when he doesn't have to much background noise behind him. Still, it was an incredibly lazy song selection from Simon... especially since he just criticized them for song choice this past week.
