Congrats Habs!
Kris and I are in agreement (about C James). But, you know, Kris does not exactly watch this show religiously. If he even saw Casey's big band fiasco, I wonder what he thought? I like Casey mainly because he's (except for the aforementioned debacle) consistent. He performs pretty well each week. Uninspired though he is. He seems ready to handle a recording career. His voice, though not exceptional, is good, and he doesn't screw up songs. (Touring? He needs work). Plus, as a person, I like him.
I'm not exactly a Casey tard, but I've heard garbage disposals with forks stuck in them that sound better than some of Lee's notes. I haven't listened to Lee's studio recordings or albums, mainly because he has never interested me. (I haven't listened to any of the others, either.) But I think on this show you should be judged by what you can do on the show. Sorry, I'd like to like him (or anyone), I don't have hatred (like Tim hatred) for him, but... And he needs to stfu since whenever he talks I simply think, "Gokey." And if the guy needs to get a tattoo in the middle of competing on American Idol, I don't know. That's just weird. Like, it's got to hurt. (I know, I know, that has nothing to do with anything.)
Crystal is no longer interesting me much. I guess she's used her bag of tricks. Unlike, say, Kris Allen, but more like, say, Adam Lambert or Danny Gokey, I think she's peaked too soon. If Kris did one smart thing above all else last year, it was not to play all the cards in his hand at once. I know Crystal has played piano, done some different arrangements (that the judges hated but I loved), etc., but unlike Kris's act, which seemed so clean and sharp, hers seems somehow to have all run together in my mind in a kind of feathery, lacey mess, like trying to remember the places you and your friends went after smoking a bong on a rainy day back in the nineties sometime. There is not the clarity and definition of Kris, none of the sharply focused, defining moments. I remember tuning in during season 7, David Cook was singing Eleanor Rigby. I nearly fell over, it was so epic. I don't expect epic from Crystal, but I need big moments, and brilliance, and she hasn't done that for a while.
Now, I know you'll say, "But Casey has had no big moments or brilliance." True.
What a season, huh?
