I'd bet it was Aaron. Or Tim. Or Siobhan. LOL. Hard to say.

Well, I was kind of happy that Tim was safe, because he didn't deserve to leave after last night, I thought.

Bye Katie, I won't miss you.

It still feels like acting to me when Adam performs. I don't know, I have trouble believing his emotions or something. I'd say it lacks authenticity, but I think that is actually authentic Adam.

I can't see him losing himself in a song so much that he gets choked up, as Kris did when he sang FS in the Philippines. He's not that deep, that's the big secret, to me, about him. He ain't that deep.

Oh, and Alicia Keys is the mentor next week. I can get behind that. And we'll have a song list this week, I'm curious.

Okay, I do like that song (though I'm already getting tired of it... disposable music). I liked the visuals, but Adam sounded really whiny tonight (his voice I mean). It wasn't really pleasant.

Yeah, I kind of like singing to be pleasant. It's a priority.

I don't know. Just annoying things. The NY song she does with Jay-z, for ex. It makes me crazy when she says "The lights will in-spi-yah you." The word is "in-spire." Two syllables, not three. I don't know why but she bugs me in a lot of little ways like that.

Brooke and Justin were good! But I don't know if it's because of his last name, but Justin reminds me of a living version of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. It's slightly disturbing.

Brooke was really good. Justin looked really, really nervous. Brooke noticed though and really helped him I thought. By the end I think they were really working well together. But yeah, I agree Justin was really shaky vocally. LOL - Gaston of Beauty and the Beast, now I'm totally going to think about that every time I see him.

Gotta be honest, much as I love Kris I can't listen to every single radio interview he does. (I don't think he would mind.) So can you explain about the sheep comment?

Dude, you have to hand in your membership card. Hate to be the one to break it to you ;)

The radio people asked Kris how he felt when Adam was given the cover of Rollingstone. Did he get jealous, etc. Kris answered that he didn't think Rollingstone would have him on the cover since he didn't have the big story that Adam did.. and then he said.. what would they put me on the cover with a sheep? LOL

I'd say this is a slightly bigger presentation than they gave season 7's runner up. Anyone agree?

Just a wee bit.

Here's my thoughts on the performance. I really like Adam and I think he's got a crazy good voice. But what was up with the smoke? This isn't actually a concert -- it's a tv show. You couldn't see Adam for more than half that performance. So for tv I'd keep the lasers, ditch the crazy smoke.

I didn't love the arrangement either. But his voice is insane. I do know what you guys mean about the theatrical aspects and lack of emotion though.

My favourite part.. Ryan and Adam standing after the performance in a cloud of smoke so you could barely see them, cut to the 3 and it's completely clear - no smoke - it was like they were in a different studio.

Anyway, I thought Andrew would go, I'm glad Tim stayed since he was one of the best yesterday and he actually deserved to stay. I was a little surprised about Katie, but I think the other bottom 3 person was either Aaron or Siobhan. That's my guess anyway.

Alicia will be interesting I think. Inspirational songs.. is that a new theme or have they done it before?

ETA: Nevermind VFTW.. severely awkward. bleh

They did that theme on season 7 at least... IGB week as well. Season 6 too as well, I think (IGB week). It's like a tradition.

And the Magic Rainbow (Kelly's and Jordin's coronation songs are also there)!!!

It's a weird mix on old songs and new songs, it's really strange. There are some good songs on that list though. Some pretty awful too.

LOL. Somebody on twitter asked me to describe the list in more details and it's so hard. Really strange list!! Mandy Moore? I Will Survive?

I'm sorry, SleepinIn, I don't get that reference.

But his voice is insane.

Maybe I've this a few times, maybe not. I forget. Adam's voice is insane, and I'm impressed by it. The first few times I heard it, I was impressed the most. As time went on, I got used to it and started to think of the things he did as tricks. I mean, how many times can you react to technical skill alone? After a while, it's "been there, done that."

I think the problem is, after the wow factor of "OMG is that really his voice?", a singer has to have the human factor to back it up. In other words, you can only impress people so much with your ability to wail or be louder than everyone else, or with your range, perfect pitch, etc. Because it's not diving, or figure skating. Singing is communication. Communication is not about impressing people. It's about reaching them.

As for the quality of the voice, that's subjective. I have this reaction to his voice and it sounds unpleasant to me. But maybe I'd feel that way about a lot of voices like his. It's not my favorite thing.

:) That's because I deleted it and wrote that instead. Basically I had a link to VFTW because Alex was on and Jim was calling in. I listened. It was really awkward. So I changed my mind about the recommendation.

Oh absolutely. Music is completely subjective.

And now I can't say on twitter that I don't like Lifetime... I only named their song (Dare You to Move) and Switchfoot is now following me on twitter, LOL.
