What is this "Love" of which you speak? Why is Kris in Vegas, Adam should be in Vegas, he belongs there. In a big headdress and feathers. Hey I'm not dissing him, he'd love it.

A couple of my friends are on the notorious Fung Wah bus to NYC. You have to be in Boston to know what this is. Wait, maybe there's somthing...

yeah, Wikipedia. Fung Wah Bus Transportation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HAPPY 2010!!!! Whoot! Whoot!

(because I am feeling lazy it is all in red.. lol) :eek:ccasion7:

Oh, I remember seeing that mentioned when I was in New York. How much does it cost? Do you know? They mention accidents a lot in that Wikipedia article... *gulp*

And Kris was awesome in Vegas.. (ha! no rain! Take that Seacrest) The show was a bit whack, lol. Sean Kingston you are fun.. but why are you not actually singing? When you lower the mic and your voice keeps going.. we kind of notice. And the Eva Longoria Avacoda thing.. WTF?

I have to admit I wanted Kris to do CSA without the guitar.. cause I love it sooo much that way. But it was still really good, and electric guitar was cool.

Allison was a crazy girl. LOL She looked like a giant Bratz doll.
(in a good way) I thought she was great - I can't believe she's so young.

Guess they got there okay, because they're drunk tweeting. lol

I think it's 15 dollars one way. Probably they upped the price a bit for NYE.

I once was driving to a party in Boston with some friends and the Fung Wah bus, that was just leaving, almost sideswiped my car. It then pulled forward and went up on the sidewalk. Kinda scary!

I want Kris to do CSA (or some song) without guitar. I don't care what people say (on mj's) -- "he moves just as good with a guitar" -- they're missing the point. I'm sure Kris feels more comfortable playing while singing, but you sometimes have to consider what works as "theatre". What the audience experiences. And you have to put on a show.

I almost get the impression he got embarrassed by everyone saying how sexy he was, and all the screaming. Because it's like he retreated to the guitar, and eliminated the moves, so he could be more of a musician and less of a performer. Usually, if it ain't broke, you shouldn't fix it. So I can't imagine what his reasoning was. He must have noticed how well he was going over, yet he deliberately stopped it.

Allison? I don't really ever enjoy her. But that's nothing new. I'm not a big fan of loud rock voices, most of the time. I feel she's unfocused and she's about the worst interpreter of lyrics ever. I like her, she's nice, but thats it.

I came back home at 1:30, so I just watched the FOX NYE special... in like 15 minutes. It was weird to see Kris being introduced by Carmen Electra! And if you think the show was wacked this year SleepinIn, it was actually a HUGE improvement compared to the show last year and its boring motorcycle stunt.

They played LLWD again with the tracks! Do they do that only on the FOX shows? I prefer when it's only them playing it live. The strings and the oh-oh-oh are distracting!

I don't mind CSA with the guitar (and Kris had a mohawk because of the wind, LOL!). I've seen a lot of shows where the artist stands center stager, playing guitar and I've never found it boring. The only thing I'm missing in that new CSA is the guitar jam that they were doing at the end! Bring that back, please!

Allison was pretty good, but I don't really like her music in general. And I still can't get pass her incapacity to enunciate words properly. She looked really cute though and I can't believe she's only 17 either.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! BONNE ANNÉE!! (Too lazy to do something else than caps!)

And... I'm listening to the final David Cook cellcast for a while now. The sound is pretty awful though...

Ha, I think you got it in one. I think he got self-conscious. I actually don't mind at all that he changes things up so much (I actually love that about him.. organic.. lol) And, I don't really mind whatever he does, but you're right the freedom and theatre of that performance was all kinds of awesome without the guitar. And a big yes to the guitar jam!!! :)

I didn't even notice tracks on LLWD, I might be de-sensitized to it at this point from over listening. lol

I didn't notice the tracks, either. Then when people on mj's mentioned them, I went back and listened this morning. I think it's a sort of tribute to the band that we don't notice tracks as something garingly obvious. The difference is obvious when you listen for it, but Kris and the band usually sound as good without the tracks. missaddicted always has good ears, for which we should be grateful. :)

Allison:
I know there's a great singer in there under the war paint, waiting to emerge.
I think she's got talent. But I don't know what she's saying. (It sounded like, "Unghhh-haaah-laaaa-dooah.") I'm really surprised she still has the problem of not enunciating, that I thought she had on AI. Somebody must notice this, right? And I get the impression that she doesn't think a lot about what she's saying, either. Then, the way she just randomly flops around onstage is not good theatre, speaking of theatre.

That reminds me I just watched some of Adam's stuff from last night. This is the first time he's performed his album songs, right? His first concert since the AI tour.

I noticed the tracks immediately. To my knowledge, they only used them on SYTYCD and on that NYE show. They sound very obvious, since I think the band sounds better without the tracks to perform LLWD live. It's not as if they need the tracks (like Coldplay needs tracks to play Viva La Vida for example).

But, hey, it doesn't really matter one way or another, the performance was very good!

When I hear Kris sing, I'm listening closely to Kris. Or any singer. I'm not hearing it as a whole, I guess. I'm separating the voice from it in my mind. The background is just background. If a band really sucks, then I notice it.

I don't mind CSA with the guitar (and Kris had a mohawk because of the wind, LOL!). I've seen a lot of shows where the artist stands center stager, playing guitar and I've never found it boring.

Here's the thing (as Kara says). If you got it, you must flaunt it. You really must.

Now, I agree. I don't mind it if a singer stands center stage and sings, with a guitar. I didn't mind when Ingrid Michaelson did that, recently, when I saw her, and I also didn't mind that Kris and his band just sat and played/sang. They were fantastic.

But I doubt Ingrid could have done much else. She's just not one to bop around the stage to a song. It's not in her. A hundred other singers who stand center stage without moving do it because they have to do that, that's who they are. Kris is also someone who can dance, and bop around. Feel the music and express it physically. It's part of him. He's the kid who danced around his bedroom like Michael Jackson. I'm pretty sure Tom Petty, for example, was not that kid.

What that makes him is a little bit more interesting and exciting to watch than all the other guys who can just stand there and play guitar. It sets him even more apart.

Basically he let it out, he showed he's got that entertainer/showman side -- now it would be some kind of crime to get all inhibited and pack it away. That's just how I feel. YMMV.

I don't get it either.

Maybe someone will :computer: the tiny glimpses of Kris that they show. (not that I haven't already seen them...)

Where, where??? :)

This is a post from mj's about Adam's performance from a not-overly-invested person:

Videos usually don’t do the live performance justice. Soooo…looks interesting. Needs more experience on the big stage as a solo act. He will only get better. It is funny but even though many of these idols have years of experience, it is usually in small venues (I know Adam has theatre experience…) Cook had lots of experience, but had to learn to translate his star power onto a bigger platform last year, and got alot better as the touring went on. Fans, we are usually so excited to see our idols perform that it is hard to be objective about their performances. So from an non-invested Adam fan. He was ok. most of the time, and had some great moments too.

This was a good description. It's impossible for me to be unbiased, but in comparing Adam-Kris as objectively as possible I'd say Kris has now benefitted from the extra experience since Idol and is a little more professional looking as a performer than Adam. (Or Allison.) Adam seemed a little less than polished sometimes.

As to performing styles, Kris just naturally seems part of his band and at the same time a solo -- sort of like Bruce Springsteen. (Partly because he plays guitar, but I don't think that's all it is.) Adam by contrast (to me, anyway) seems like a solo with a band backing him up. Even when he interacts with them. I don't think one way is better than the other. I just prefer one to the other.

Part of another post:

Just a few tidbits about Adam’s performance after reading other posts: Adam did have sound problems, but it was intermittent, there were a few out of tune notes – but very few. Overall he was vocally stunning, his improvisations were insane.

For Your Entertainment did have that same heliumy quality we heard on tour (at least some of us did), but what was odd, he said something before singing FYE (or after, I don’t remember now) and actually laughed becuase his voice sounded Donald Duck-like. At least that’s how I interpreted his reaction. It was odd.

With Adam, there always seem to be "sound problems." Maybe there really are always sound problems. Why? I don't know. Because he sings loud and high and that may be hard to mix.

That "heliumy quality." I wonder about that. I heard it but I just think it's his voice, you know? He has an odd, unusual voice, it's sort of strange-sounding at times.

Re: Adam and the sound mix - maybe you're right it could just be a by product of his voice, since it's so varied, it may be hard for them to mix correctly. Although when he tours they will probably be able to work out the bugs better than the Idol tour or a one off New Years show. I still haven't watched Adam's videos.. Bad fan.

I'm still stuck on ANS from the other day, lol.

This is cool. Vegas is very gossipy, who knew? I thought they were all "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" (I do feel a little too "in-the-know" about knowing what they had for dinner - nice picture though)
