I forgot to mention Rockstar. So did the hate for JD stick? Did it hurt his career? Did it have no effect? I don't know much about it.

Funny you mentioned TWoP because I was just over there, at the Kris thread, and the mod has shut the thread down. Temporarily. Due to "snottiness" and arguing. There was also a message about "the new forums". I didn't get what that was about. Other than there being a new mod, I didn't get the reference to new forums. This was on the second to last page, I think.

If you ask me, Jive should have hired those people -- those students -- and paid them a hefty salary to keep on promoting Kris, because they did it better than the "official" channels. It's also about the nature of who Kris Allen is. He's just not an "official fansite" type of guy. He's an unofficial fansite type. KrisAllenation suited him perfectly.

Ha, that's true. They should have paid them. It would be weird though wouldn't it? If you're managing your friends fansite. I don't know, it would drive me nuts.

Twitter really suits Kris actually. He can type 140 characters and it goes to twitter and facebook.. Done.

Good point. Of course I didn't really mean KA nation suited Kris. I meant it was suited to him. As a fansite. It reflected who he seems to be, and it had a friendly, casual thing that I think his fans preferred. The only thing I didn't like (and it was a biggie) was you couldn't post a comment there unless you were registered with Google, or whatever. At least I never had any luck when I tried to post there. I think it was the same for most people because no article ever had more than a couple of comments posted to it.

I suppose, but successful people often hire friends to work for them as managers, secretaries, press agents, etc. (Since I mentioned Harry Truman, earlier: just as an example, his White House press secretary was his childhood best friend, Charlie Ross.) But, yeah, these kids just might want to have lives of their own that don't revolve around Kris's every breath. lol

Sometimes, JD is his own worst enemy. I really love the guy, and he is crazy talented (and his new music is great.. no bias here! lol) But yeah, the hate stuck. But that's JD, he's a little wild, but he's got a good heart. The career is a number of things. He's got great music that he's working on now, but who knows if he'll ever release it. He's a pretty cryptic dude.

Kris isn't JD though. Other than the haters and the talent they are pretty different.

TWOP moved all the current peeps to the old product thread so that's why the new forums message was there.

But then after the conversation of the other day that was driving me nuts they locked the thread. And it's still locked. grr. Cooling off period I think, they did it to Adam's thread the other day too.

and you're probably right missaddicted the official site is probably best. But it's so lacking in usability. lol.

Off topic (?): I was listening to Land Of Smiles this afternoon. I'm not embarassed to say (well, yeah, I'm a little embarrassed to say) as I was listening to it a big ol' tear rolled down my face. That song does it to me every time.

You lost me there. I'm not forum savvy.

I guess if we liked it we'd use it. I don't even know why I don't like it. The Lambert site seems to suit his fans. It's like signing up for the Army.

Oh, yeah, what I wanted to say more specifically about the ****-stirring re Kris. They could never get people to hate him. What I believe they do is to try and leave the impression everything that he achieves is somehow suspect, or not quite kosher. The win? Cheating voters, homophobia, AT & T stacking the deck. Heartless? Stolen from The Fray without credit. LLWD? A cover that Kris hopes to put over on fans as his own music. It's called invalidating, I believe. I can't wait for the album, and what's wrong with that.

Anyhow: blah de blah de blah.

They are just clearing the field for the new peeps. Happens every year.

I'll have to re-listen to Land of Smiles, I haven't really listened to that one. He gets me with Wiped Away. I know the songs aren't "there yet" - well they aren't for me anyway. But, there's something about it that I really like. Then there's Lovely..

YouTube - Lovely Waltz

*sigh* It really suits a waltz.

LLWD was played on this station too.. slow.. steady.. world domination. lol

I bet it will be brought out that the CD was manufactured in Burmese sweatshops by 11 year old kids. Being whipped by missionaries from New Life Church.

I probably seem really dumb, but I have no idea what you're taking about. How are they clearing the field? Where was the thread moved to? What's wrong with the old peeps? Whoever they are. You mean the posters, or the mods?

LOL - That part of the thread is always used for current performers, so it was Season 8 Idols. But season 8 is over so they're clearing that thread for the Season 9 Idol kids.

The season 8 threads have been moved to the Old Product thread where all the threads for former Idols are.

No doubt. lol

LOL. I like that. I listened to the song, on that site -- there's a link -- but it was a very tinny version. I don't like it when it sounds like that. Sometimes I don't like the song as much as other times -- but a high quality version improves it so much. Also, I don't mind it with this particular song, but I don't want all his songs to have so much post-production. Heartless, as a single (a single that isn't really a single) showcases his voice so much better, you know? It's a little better song because it tells a story, too. Which LLWD doesn't do. Not being overly critical, I hope, just saying some of my hopes for the future. The album, I guess.

Now I get it. Thanks!

Back again for a second...if you have a few minutes to kill, take a look at this comments thread on Amazon for Adam's CD. Hate to beat a dead horse, but this sort of proves my point about the age of his die-hard fans. Nothing wrong with that, it's just interesting, to me. Many of them state their ages. Also, I didn't realize Glamberts are assigned numbers. "Glambert #1257".

I think there are four pages. Well worth reading.

The OTT-ness of their anticipation is kind of frightening. I mean, I'm a Kris fan, but I can wait until his album drops. I can live until then. I don't think music as we know it will never be the same. I don't think he's the next Elvis Presley. I wouldn't listen to his CD no matter what was on it. I'm not buying 20 copies of the CD and giving them to my friends and family for Christmas. Nor do I have a husband who thinks I've lost my mind.

Just sayin'. :)

You don't? Well, you should!! How can you live until November 17? I can't.

I'm just kidding. I didn't read the comments, but the recap you posted is scary enough.

Just testing to see if my posts are showing up again. I wrote to the mods and hope the problem's been resolved now. I can't figure out what's happened -- this is twice now.

Kris news. Playing on a bill with The Fray, Dec. 4, in Chicago:

WTMX

Also there's a rumor Adam may be touring with Lady Gaga. Just a rumor right now, I guess.

That's good news. I like the idea of Kris playing with the Fray since he's already met them (or some of them) and..WTMX... will play the single..

and the comments for Adam's CD.. are priceless. I mean I want to hear the CD too, but honestly. Will he take over the world next? (but you know.. if he does.. I was totally on board right away.. I have my number.. right here.. somewhere.. I'm sure I do..)

And Jemma, glad you can post again. Don't go ANYWHERE.

Allison's song.. I like it. :)

You know, I expected to dislike Allison's song. But, before I knew it, I was totally dancing to it. I like it way better than I expected. I might end up in the "disposable" category for me (like I'll buy it and get tired of it after a week or two), but right now, I like it.

She reminds me a bit of Marie-Mai. She was a contestant on the first season of Star Académie when she was 18, in 2003. She released a first album not long after, written a bit by her, but mostly by others. She took it as a learning experience, she was very young. Her first album was definitely pop-rock. In 2007, she released her second album. She was more involved with that one and she worked with a producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentist who became her boyfriend. It was more rock, combined with a bit of electronic music. Her second album won the Best Rock Album award last yeat at the ADISQ gala here in Québec.

My favorite from her second album, Mentir:

YouTube - Marie-Mai Mentir (video clip)

She's now 25 and she just released her third CD, that she wrote completely, still with her boyfriend, the producer. They did everything together. I really really like that CD. Goes further than her second CD in the rock direction, but is also a bit more electronic even.

Her first single from the third album, C'est moi:

YouTube - Marie-Mai - C'est moi - Vidéoclip Officiel

And just like Allison, she loves to change her hair color!

Anyway, she's probably my favorite from all the Star Académie alums. She's a hard-worker, she's determined and she's apparently really really good on stage. And she's a huge success with teens (but not only teens!). Definitely a success.

Doesn't completely sound like her.. but I like it.

That's true. MJ said that they didn't overproduce her voice too much, but they totally did.

I'm on my second listen now... and I already like it a little less. It's super catchy, but after listening to the two Marie-Mai songs that I posted, Allison's song kinda pales in comparision, for me.
