No, I think that one is different..maybe.. That Heartless was goood. I've been neglecting the vids lately. They sound so much better than the crappy cellcasts, I have to say.

ANS slays me every time. I can't believe that he's only been playing piano for 2 years, he has such a great sense of timing. I just want to listen forever. Seriously.

I haven't looked at many videos lately, either. Not only does Kris never phone it in, but he keeps getting better?? Yeah!

I'm running out of ways to praise him, actually.

When the tour started I didn't pay as much attention to ANS, because it was the song I figured I knew the best. Now that all his songs sound familiar to me, I've come back to really appreciating ANS. If that makes sense. Also, he's doing it better than ever.

Random David Cook video posting:

Love the a cappella/away from the microphone part in "Lie":

YouTube - David Cook - Lie (plus old girlfriend banter) - Seattle, WA

Love to see that even after more than 100 shows, he shows no signs of becoming tired of touring or jaded, and that he's still very much enjoying the ride (pre-Idol song "Straight Ahead" complete with a stroll in the audience and maybe a pee break!):

YouTube - David Cook - Straight Ahead (plus banter) - Idaho Falls, ID

Only a little more than a month until "my" show! Can you tell I'm excited!

Thanks for posting those Missaddicted, they're really good quality. It reminded me that I have David's pre-idol album stashed aways somewhere - the digital version anyway. I've got to dig it out and re-listen to it.

and Ross.. I love that Kansas City video. I think I need to watch the vids again, lol.

Here's a video from that interview that was done with 103.7 FM in Milwaulke. It isn't the whole interview, but the facial expressions are hilarious. Kris cracks me up.. The only thing that would make it better would be to see more of the interview in video.
(I really love how well these guys get along)
YouTube - Danny, take your shirt off! Except don't. DNW. (103.7 KISS FM)

Love the Heartless video from KC. So good!

And LOL at the interview from Milwaukee. I don't think I had listened to the whole thing, but I cracked up several times during the video.

Do you guys think Kris is now doing Heartless a little more like he originally did it on AI? He seems to be doing it just slightly faster and with more of an edge. Maybe I'm imagining this?

I just re-watched the orginal performance from the show last night and yes it was amazing originally - but I think he's just gotten even better with it.

I was just reading twitter and some Kevin Rudolph news tweet just posted that Adam is working with Kevin Rudolph too. Is it odd that they are all using the same producers/writers? I know 19 generally does use the same people, but shouldn't they spread them out a bit?

It makes me really thankful for Mat Kearney and Joe King, I don't think Adam and Allison will be writing with them.. although who knows at this point, lol.

What I was saying about Heartless is that I think he's sped it up slightly the last few times. Given it a drive. Because when I saw him do it, it was very soulful and soft-rock, not driving, and (I thought) slower. It was beautiful to hear but not as edgy as it seems now.

Isn't there a lot of that kind of in-breeding in the music business, anyhow? I don't know, I guess I just figure if they're working with good people, that's the main thing. They all worked with Rickey Minor and that worked out okay.

Maybe I'm not getting what you mean. Why don't you like the three of them to share songwriters or producers?

I think if they had a year to do the albums it would be different. But when they're rushing to put out albums, they probably have to rely on certain people they know work quickly and with good results.

Some interesting recaps on mj's blog today.

I'm not really sure what I mean either. I know they will all sound different just by the nature of their own individual styles.

That's a good point Ross. I was thinking that it was pretty cool for Allie to be working with Kevin Rudolph, but then if Adam is too. It almost loses some mystic but you make a good point that there is a lot of in-breeding in the music business these days. I guess we saw that with Ryan Teddar who is writing for all the big acts, and Kara too, I guess. And you're right good music, is good music no matter where it originates.

Maybe it's just the thought that I don't want all the songs original voice's to be the same.. ? If that makes any kind of sense. That's probably why I like Kris so much, we've used the word organic to describe him a lot and there is just something that he does with songs that make them seem fresh to me. Am I making any kind of sense? Lol I might be paranoid.. I need information Kris.

And yes, that version of Heartless does seem to have more of an edge to me too. :)

I think for me, it's a credibility issue, somewhat. First, it does make it seem like they're rushing to the finish line to be sure that the product is delivered before the Christmas shopping rush. Hence, their use of some "go-to" people, like Tedder, who have proven that they can deliver easy hits, but not original ones. And yes, they'll have different styles on their albums, but a songwriter still has a personal style that can come out in the songs they write even for others (Halo vs. Already Gone is a good example). It just gives the critics some more amunition to question the originality of the artists coming from the Idol franchise. Also, it almost makes it seem like the different Idols are not able to get varied songwriters to work with them. Well, they do, but the same names come up way too often for my tastes.

Anyway, it's just not reflective at all of an organic process. It's more along the limes of "sit the Idol down with the usual songwriter and ask them to deliver a song in an hour". I guess I just dislike that way of working. I'm not a songwriter at all, but I guess if I had to write a song, that would be the last thing I would want to do. But, I know, time is limited and they have to do what they can do with the time they do have.

How many shows do they have left for the tour, they're almost done, no?

SleepinIn, that actually makes a lot of sense. I thought I knew what you meant but just wanted to make sure. You're right, of course. I'm just trying to look on the bright side. But it's right to question how original or organic Kris is going to really come across if he's just working with "generic songwriter A" and generic songwriter B", or if he and Adam and Allison are all working with the same people.

I find myself wondering how, in the music business, someone like Mike Elizondo, who mostly produces hip hop music, can turn around and produce an indie style CD for another artist. Timbaland is another example. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think this is different from how the music business used to be. Berry Gordy or Norman Granz (jazz producer) produced a certain type of musiic, and that was it. They specialized. There wasn't a lot of crossing over. I don't really get it.

They're all done on the 15th of September. Ten days. I don't actually know how many shows are left.
