Yeah, I saw the new ones of Jim and Kris just now. Funny!

That picture mj put up from Adam's album photo shoot: what the ____ was he wearing? What's with the Ronald Reagan hairstyle?

Adam's best-selling RS cover: I've been reading about this for a few days, and it surprises me.

I'm surprised because there were three or four isssues that sat on the shelf at my favorite record store for weeks. Not exactly being snapped up.

People have said that that puffy thing was a cover for a spikey jacket.. I sort of hope so.. puffy thing.. scary. :)

I think when Clay and Ruben were on the cover it sold really well too. AI fans are just crazy buying fiends. Although you're right it did sit on shelves here too. It's not like you couldn't find it.

Kinda weird, isn't it? I've always been sort of suspicious of the whole Adam-Rolling Stone thing. RS always wrote as if no other contestant mattered but Adam - as though nobody else was good on the show -- and they seemed to presume their readers would agree. It was like they were Glamberts. I think that's pretty strange.

Not so strange, they knew they had the scoop and were promoting it. Not that they didn't like and respect Adam - but they are a business and they know that Adam's coming out on the cover of Rollingstone is a big story. 20/20 also promoted.. what business would turn down cross-promotion on network tv?

Hedley...thanks.

Did you see the second blog on there? The un-drunk one, with Jake in the red hat? (Un-drunk, but probably stoned.)

The stuff on mj's blog is so stupid. I'm interested in the concerts, so I get curious and have to read. But it's like reading a lot of gossip. "OMG what did he do?" "He said what?" Etc. Anyhow, it looks like the concert was good and the crowd response was great.

Aw, that's cute.

JESSI CRUICKSHANK (JESSIMTV) on Twitter

Jessi met a few of the Idols today too. And she usually has a camera crew (being on MTV Canada and all) so I live in hope that there will be video. It looks like Jessi and Anoop hit it off, they're now following each other on twitter. lol. Kris isn't the only one winning the hearts of MTV. Too cute.

I forgot to respond to this but thanks for clarifying why Adam was in the padding. The picture of the spikey gloves, or whatever they were (with fake diamonds) made them look pretty lethal. I once got somebody's spikey wristband in the face -- accidentally -- and it hurt. It was at a dance. Dancing is dangerous. Fashion can be dangerous. Better stay home and watch realty shows on TV at all times.

One trend I've noticed lately is some Adam fans coming from the concert and saying Kris is awesome. Or amazing. There was one such post on mj's blog after last night's concert. Of course, a lot of these folks say they're "surprised" at how good Kris is, but they don't mean this in a snarky sense. Most Adam fans (if the fans on mj's are any indication) just watch his videos and haven't paid much attention to Kris's or anyone else's. So they go to the concert and are surprised Kris is great.

When they post these things, usually nobody responds, at all. Basically they are just so caught up in Adam. Somebody posted this last night:

It’s curious, (almost) every night there’s a new “Daily Adam-gate”.
I’m ok with that though. Being an Adam fan is a real ride.

Last night it was: someone threw an object an Adam kicked it back at the audience and was momentarily pissed.

To me this kind of thing doesn't constitute a "real ride," but I guess my life isn't as dull as some people's (funny, 'cause I thought it was! No, I'm pretty sure it is).

Adam and his little controversies. He seems to like controversy, a bit. You think maybe he's overcompensating, because he used to look exactly like Opie Taylor (Ron Howard), on the Andy Griffith Show? See: picture with Shamu at Sea World. A girl he knew in theatre in his early 20's said she called him Apple Pie. Think he got tired of that kind of thing, and had a kind of post-adolescent rebellion he's still in the throes of?

Anyhow, Kris. He seems to be getting more praise now. I thought he was great at the start of the tour, but I think he's loosened up more now. Loosened up and gotten more intense, if that isn't a contradiction.

TheStar.com | entertainment | Not-so-glamorous life of an Idol star on tour

Toronto Star article on Adam. This is yet another feature by the Star on Adam. Even before I clicked on the headline, I knew it would be about him. They never feature Kris. Except to question how he won.

At least one poster questioned why they don't cover Kris. And I liked the one who chastised them for not covering Mitch, the CI runner up!

I think on itunes here after the finale Adam sold way better than Kris. It was opposite to the US Itunes. So I can't say I'm that surprised by the Toronto Star's only covering Adam. The radio stations though really loved Kris... except for the guy that made the bet and had to get a piercing where the sun don't shine. He thought Adam would win.. WRONG! lol.

I know not your fave - but a really nice interview with Danny.
Heart & Soul

The Spectator had a lot of nice things to say about Kris but give the concert edge to Adam. I'll take the nice things and run with them. :)

You're right - he's found a groove. I look at the idol tour as the training wheels tour. Outside of us crazy fanatical idiots, no one really cares about it. It will be better when they have their own music out to promote.

And I can't wait for that moment. I guess in a month or so, we should have news about Kris' single. It's hard to tell when it's going to be released though. Last year, Archie's Crush was released at the beginning of August, while Cook's Light On was released at the end of September. I guess we should definitely know something in a month in any case.

Hve you guys read on mj's what Brian May said about the song that Adam recorded for the 2012 soundtrack? I think I choked on my breakfast when I read it. Seriously Brian May? I'm now torn between wanting to hear this apparently brilliant masterpiece and almost hoping that it really sucks. And "a bright new star for the world of Rock"? I still fail to see how Adam is really a rocker, but I'm not Brian May. Having a knack for controversies doesn't a rocker make in my opinion.

We're so not done with the fanwars *sigh*. "OMG Adam has a song on the soundtrack for one of the biggest movies of the year while Kris has nothing like that, see Adam is truly the real winner".

I think Adam mentioned October for his first single and November for the Album, so I don't know if that affects Kris at all or if they will drop simultaneously. Kris is like the ninja with the information and Adam just blurts it all out there. It actually amuses me. If there was a happy medium between the two it would be good, lol.

I hope it's good. I do want Adam to be really sucessful - but mainly I just don't want Kris to be ignored. I was listening to an interview with a singer called Melanie Fiona last night and she said that she didn't want to get big too fast, since all to often you explode and then fade away. She'd rather burn slowly and stay in the business for 20 years. So that's mostly what I want for Kris. A slow steady 20 - 30 year burn. But yeah, I don't get the rocker vibe from Adam either. But he's still on the training wheels tour too. So who knows. Rock might actually be waiting for him. LOL - Actually I do get the euro electronic thing from Adam.

The thing is who knows what Kris is doing??? No one. LOL And the "biggest movie of the year" only works if the movie is actually the biggest movie of the year. It isn't out yet.

Someone mentioned the Ten Commandments the Musical to me yesterday that Adam is in with Val Kilmer.. they hadn't seen it just heard about it. The idea of that movie didn't exactly set them on fire with anticipation to see Adam - so outside the Idol bubble is still a big mystery for all of them, even Adam in my opinion.

I agree with you there, for sure. It's just that the Idols are already seen by many as taking a shortcut to stardom, even though some of them have been working their butts off at a musical career before they went on Idol. So, they kind of have to have success right away to justify their presence in the industry. They not be afforded the time to develop and do their own thing slowly but surely (like Matt Nathanson for example), not on their Sony labels anyway. That's the way I see it I guess.

Actually I do get the euro electronic thing from Adam.

Totally. With maybe a little side of Muse thrown in. The thing is, Muse are not mainstream. And Muse's fans (well, maybe not all of them, but a good proportion) probably pride themselves in not being into mainstream top 40 music. I'm not sure fans of that kind of music will rush to pick up Adam's record.

But yeah, I don't wish for Adam to fail. I just don't want Kris to fail and all the attention on Adam is slightly irritating sometimes. He hasn't reinvented the wheel yet, so I wish some people wouldn't treat him as if he already had.

No, that's absolutely true. Jive has been good for David A. and Jordan so I have some hope for the things they want to do with Kris and even Allison. I hope that the music is good. Although now if the music thing fails there is always the Kris and Jim show to fall back on. lol. I'd rather have the music though.

Muse is starting to get a little bit more mainstream with the whole soundtrack thing. But, yeah, they've been around a long time and haven't really made much of a splash over here. I think Adam's fans will be surprised by his sound, because his tour songs and the songs he did on the show IMHO don't really reflect that euro sound.

But yeah, I don't wish for Adam to fail. I just don't want Kris to fail and all the attention on Adam is slightly irritating sometimes. He hasn't reinvented the wheel yet, so I wish some people wouldn't treat him as if he already had.

LOL - that's my thought too.

Lots of interesting stuff, you guys. I'm making some supper then I'm going to come back and re-read it all...

Sure, it was a three-hour show with 10 singers on stage. But in reality, it all came down to that final half-hour when Adam Lambert and Kris Allen took their turns on the stage to answer a lingering question.
Who was the real American Idol -- Allen, the clean cut kid who won the most votes on the TV show, or Lambert, the chameleon-like drama boy who made the cover of the Rolling Stone? Well, it's a tough one to answer. The two are so different in style. But based on their performances last night to a crowd of almost 11,000 at Copps Coliseum, we'll give the edge to Lambert.

Okay (I still haven't eaten yet, but I had to say this)...why is it a "lingering question" as to "who was the real American Idol"--? I don't know if I've ever seen anything like this. When someone wins the Oscar, do people go on and on for weeks saying someone else should have won? Or elections. When it's over, it's over.

I don't know about the media, but no matter what Adam's fans say, they haven't let go of this idea. It's not exactly a disgrace to come in second...what is wrong with these people?

But yeah, I don't wish for Adam to fail. I just don't want Kris to fail and all the attention on Adam is slightly irritating sometimes. He hasn't reinvented the wheel yet, so I wish some people wouldn't treat him as if he already had.

Kris will not fail. I don't know if he'll have massive success all at once, but, like it has been pointed out, that kind of success is often followed by "do you believe we ever liked him?" about two years later. I don't believe Adam is what they say, the next Great of the entertainment world, the next MJ, Elvis, whatever. I just don't think he's that good. I think he's more (if anything) the next Backstreet Boys or Rickey Martin. Maybe he'll be a sensation right out of the box, but if that's the case, I think it's unlikely to last. His career will probably last, but it's very bad for your image to be less successful than you were before. Of course, I'm only speculating.
