I'm being a bad fan and not voting this week. I voted hundreds of times last week. It made me so sick of voting. It's up to you this week! (VH1, I mean.)

We're doomed then. LOL I'm trying, but I sort of lose focus and wander off. I am going to try to vote though, until they pull the video, which they'll probably do soon. I usually post it here so I remember to vote. :)

Yep, Michael was SO right.

Oh, and I just re-watched Kris's ANS (both of them). THAT was awesome. Aaron should've known better, really.

Hee - I watched the finale (see distracted - total Kris fan - easily distracted) and it's just SO good. Aaron gets a -1 for picking a song that was amazing last year.

I was looking for a video of Kris's original ANS and it was removed drom the site I looked at but I read this under it (from April 1, 2009). Nice!

Kris Allen was my top pick of last night’s American Idol top 9 performances – check out
video of Kris Allen singing “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers.

What did you think of Kris Allen’s performance? Is it enough to take him to the final two?

(comments)

  1. i’ve liked him from day one…that’s why i hope he makes it to the top… i think he’s extremely talented. He’s DEFINITELY my favorite.
  2. Kris is a talented performer.
  3. Kris will go to the top three, and hopefully win. If nothing else he’ll get a recording contract, and go far.. Love his style..

Dancin' Kris. He does so dance, lol. He's always dancing.

"I don't dance, man..." Is he kidding?

That is nice. Kris totally blew everyone away with ANS.

There are performances here.

But he's so forgettable! NOT!!!

I just watched that, and you know what? I LOVED that last year!! And he is BETTER now. If that's possible. He uses his voice a little better, now. (part vocal coaching, part experience?) Can anyone this year compare to that? Even Crystal. She's great in a weak year, but she hasn't got that kind of charisma.

Hey, have you guys noticed that Kris hasn't appeared without a hat for, like, days? Or a couple of weeks? What's going on with that?

Maybe that in addition to the ability to not have to shower, Kris wants to be able to not get a haircut (seriously, his hair was getting very long... last time we saw it, it's been a while!). Maybe he's just growing his hair out. Or maybe he really doesn't want to get a haircut!

For me? Not yet. Maybe not ever. I really, really like Crystal but Kris just blew me away. It's only top 10 though -- so who knows?

His little head is cold? I think he just likes dumb hats. This one is less dumb, Plus it's like hot and sunny there.. he probably needs a hat. The beanie is in fashion..but maybe too warm for Africa. The hat he wore with One Republic.. no. Do not like. Kris auditioned in a hat too don't forget. He just likes them.

Or maybe he really doesn't want to get a haircut!

Oh, yeah the showering and haircut thing! That's so true!

Did you watch the clip of Kiss A Girl on that site? It starts with the "Kris's Idol journey" segment. Nice.

So how do you guys feel about Kris touring with Keith? Do you think it's good for him? I guess we've talked about it a bit, but it makes me wonder what else Kris will be doing this spring/summer. Seems there's not a plan for him to play any gigs alone at this point, or to headline anything. I hope he does, eventually. Seems like Jordin has been making a career out of opening for people. I don't mind Kris opening for other people but I want him to have his own concert career. I'd feel very frustrated if I didn't think he was going to get the chance to set the tone of his own concerts. To choose a lot of interesting songs and arrangements, and to be free to do that. I'm kind of scared it may not happen.

David wore his beanie in Ethiopia. For whatever reason!

The hat he wore with One Republic.. no.

(I liked it!)

Don't despair! Jordin actually has her own headlining tour coming up.

I'm very curious about how the tour plans will fall into place. We don't have a lot of info right now, except the Keith concerts and other one-shot deals. I have to believe that other shows will be planned.

I don't really get the showering thing. Maybe because I can't think of anything bad about taking a shower. But also because it's gross (not to want to be clean). Not wanting to get a haircut is normal, but if your hair doesn't look good you may as well do it as wear a hat.

I'm not sure Kris just liking hats is all of it. I didn't notice Kris doing the hat thing a lot until recently. Yeah, his audition, then, for months, no hat. I mean, Danny and Matt and Sarver wore hats, Kris didn't. Once in a while on tour he wore the toque. But after that, not a lot, until recently. His hair looked thin in those Haiti pics. Maybe that's why. I think the thing is, he has fine hair, and to make it look decent, he probably has to put gel in it and blow dry it. So he doesn't want to do all that. But cutting it would achieve about the same effect.

Doing the tour dates with Keith is a very good idea. First off it gets Kris in front of huge crowds. Okay, the opening act will never have the full attention of the crowd, but it's an opportunity to make new fans out of people. Plus it's Keith's tour so they don't have to pay for the staging but they also don't really get much money for it. They get paid in experience and opportunities.

I don't know if you remember but Hedley opened for Bon Jovi here a few years ago now.

Not only for the experience and the fans, but the press. To put on your resume that you toured with Keith Urban is another biggie. Whenever Hedley get's interviewed they seem to mention the Bon Jovi thing. It's a reassurance thing to the media. Oh, yes, this guy's good. Keith Urban thought so... so you are also permitted to think so.

I can see them doing their own thing eventually. It just takes time. Personally I'd like them to do the Keith Urban tour and keep working radio hard and do some one offs, and radio gigs. Maybe a college tour.

I do. They were a little farther along, at that point. They had played a lof of smaller shows, and shows with other bands. I think it was good experience for them, working with the guys in Bon Jovi, and doing the arenas -- and you're right,

It's a reassurance thing to the media. Oh, yes, this guy's good. Keith Urban thought so... so you are also permitted to think so.

and I also think the star thing rubs off a bit. You know, to the fans on the boards (and maybe especially to the non-fans) it's obviously impressive Kris is opening for Keith. It gives Kris some cachet. If Kris was doing a standard club tour, it might appear less interesting to a lot of people.
